I've got two model 80 type Berettas: one in .380 (M85) and one in .32 (M81). Both are in great shape and function flawlessly. (I've had them a bunch of years.)
Only perceived drawback is their size vs caliber. I have no problem carrying either for self defense, but the reality is I can carry a gun of the same size in 9mm, 40, or 45 (my 9mm S&W 3914LS or Chiefs Special, .40 SW99 compact or SW Chief Special in 45, not to mention all the plastic fantastic micro mini 9mm around).
Now they fit in well with my sorta Beretta "collection" wityh one each of 1934 & 1935s; a 1951 92, a92S, and a 92FX in Inox, plus a PX4c in 9.
So I thought I'd round out the accumulation with a .22. The model 87.
Until I looked at prices on the big auction site. $900 for a .22. Not likely, mate.
I'm still a little surprised by the $500ish price tags on the 85 and 81s, but close to a grand for the .22. Wow. I can do a model 96 Brigadier for that kind of money.
I'll assume they've become "collectors'" pieces or the world has just gone nuts. Guess that's gonna remain an empty spot in the safe where it could have gone.
