On a whim, and combined with a need for a new plinker, I picked up a new Beretta Neos base model 4 inch in blue yesterday, price was $240 out the door.

I really liked the feel of the gun even with the raked grip angle.

Anyone have any experience with these guns, are they reliable, ammo sensitive etc

Thanks

IF you use the search you'll see we've got all the basic brands of .22 pistols. Our Beretta Neos is the easiest to takedown for cleaning and is by far the most reliable of all with the cheap bulk pak ammo. Add a $20-30 red dot optic and you can really have a ball with it.

Another big plus, CDNN still had Neos U22 magazines for $10 each last time I looked. I like to have lots of spare mags -- load them in air-conditioned comfort and empty them at the range to spend my time shooting instead of relaoding magazines.

Mine has been pretty reliable so far. I did have a few hiccups with some of the cheap bulk pack early on, but that seems to have worked itself out. The grip is a bit small for my big hands, but I can manage alright. All in all I do think its probably the best choice for the money. I do particularly like the integral top rail being the whole length of the gun. It does allow for a lot of personal choice in optics placement. My one real complaint is the trigger. I find it to be a terribly hard pull for a 22. I do wish I had gotten the deluxe model to try out the adjustable trigger.

I'm not sure we really do need pics Shipwreck .. nothing fancy about a Neos :scrutiny: Well, here's mine anyway.

The two things that I wish they'd have done differently are the grip angle and the safety. That stupid little lever jams me in the hand when the safety is on! I bought the Neo's bigger/better equivalent in the Beretta 87 target. In my perception, there isn't a finer .22LR to be had (for me anyway). Sadly the 87 Target commands nearly twice the price which was easy to get over once I shot it the first time. I genuinely believe that I'll have that 87 Target for the rest of my life (Democrat gunbanning notwithstanding).

I agree with you there rockstar.esq . I dont have one, but the 87 Target is SWEET. I would certainly have bought that instead if I were looking for a serious .22lr. Back when I bought my Neos I was just looking for the best of the cheapest plinkers. About the price though .. you said nearly twice the priuce of the Neos ? I would say the 87T is more than 3 times as much. I got my Neos for $199.99 +tax. The 87 Targets Ive seen go for $650+.

My wife got one, and she loves it. I love it. Everyone loves it. The trigger is light and smooth, the accuracy is really pretty incredible (at 7 yards from a rest, I can put all 10 rounds into one dime-sized hole) and we've only used the absolute cheapest ammo (Federal 550 round bulk pak from walmart, 36 grain copper plated hollowpoints). There hasn't been a single jam, a few bad primers though. Oh yeah, and we haven't cleaned or oiled it since day one, and we've put around 3000 through it. No problems at all. I'm convinced that this is the best semiautomatic .22 pistol ever.

Indeed

...

Yesterday, down at the range, a nice man and his son had twins of them. Both had blue grips, and both with those Scopes and they let me take a peak. I was totally impressed at the ranges 50ft max range by both, the gun itself, and the large scopes on top, with 4 different sights, + O [ o ] {+}, etc, and colors, to choose from, with a touch/switch of a button. And when they said, 150 for the Scope, I knew they both had found the ultimate Beretta plinker's.

They really liked my CT laser grips on my Sig, and my Rail mounted Laser Max on my Beretta, as well..
