Beretta owners....help

First, I have owned Sig, Glock and HiPower in 9mm. Can't shoot the Sig or Glock too well (tired eyes) and didn't like the balance of the HiPower. I have tried may different sights, from target to big dots and simply don't point and shoot these 9's very sell. But....I point and shoot a 1911 very well.

There are two Berettas teasing me at the local dealer....one is a 90two, just plain cool....and a 92FS special edition with polished flats and beautiful wood grips. I want this as a home defense gun and a range gun....won't be carried.

The 92 does not have a flat top slide and I think that may help with my "sighting disorder." With the Glock and Sig I always hit too low, regardless of the rear sight height. And I need fast acquisition...not target sighting....

So, tell me how the Beretta points for you when compared to the other pistols I have mentioned. I really like the Beretta quality, I have a Tomcat for my wife.

And...yes I will go to a range and test shoot a rental 92 before any purchase...I just wanted some opinions.

(Note, I do not want to flame any other pistols....they are all great for the intended purposes.....just want some info on the 92.)

If your eyes are that bad, a regular full size pistol won't help...but since you mentioned that you like the 1911 sight picture, how about a long slide Glock 34?

I have a Beretta 96 Inox, and love it. The accuracy is excellent! It's .40 S&W by the way. It's virtually the same as the 92 I think.

Well, I've got two 92's--------one is my daily, eveywhere I go, CCW weapon, in 9mm.
If anything happened to one or both of them----I'd have to get me another one, got way tooo many mags NOT to and I've got a Beretta Storm that uses the same mags.
NEVER had a problem with "any" of my Beretta's.
They are nice and heavy which makes follow up shots easier.

90two

I have the new 90two in .40 and love it. Great size for my hands and balanced perfectly. I think it is a step up from the traditional 92.

My brother has a 92 Vertec, basically the same as the standard 92 but the curve on the back of the grip has been trimmed off. Leaving it with a straight grip that feels somewhat similar to a 1911. It seems to point naturally for me, I shoot very well with it and have thought about buying the 96 Vertec but they are fairly expensive and I haven't been able to justify it to my wife...yet.

I have bought 15-20 pistols since I bought my Inox 92 and most of them are awesome...accurate, fun to shoot, handle well, everything. My 92 often gets forgotten for months at a time, then when I do take it to the range, I remember that it's my absolute favorite handgun and I fall in love with it all over again. It's the one pistol I will never get rid of.

Sometimes thing just don't work because of body mechanics.

I own a 92fs but I can't shoot it if my life depended on it. Yet the same pistol in the hands of my friend will shoot cloverleafs out to 15-20 yards. Just something about the ergos that don't work in my hands. My M1911s shoot like they were designed for my hand OTOH.

Your only viable solution is a set of Crimson Trace grips. If you are choosing a HD gun, you better make sure that you can sight & shoot it accurately.

my 92 shoots 1" to the left, but only 1 3/4 inch groups.....I ain't gonna touch the sights - love it
