Which models of the Beretta 92 have the frame mounted safety? The Original 1980 Beretta 92 had this feature as well, yes? When did the weapon move to a frame-mounted magazine release? When was the slide-mounted safety added?

Does the Beretta Bilennium pistol have the frame mounted safety? That's the one that wasn't imported into the US, yes?

Is there a difference between the Italian Berettas and the US commercial ones? I've handled a US military M9; the trigger was awful. What's worse is the US military have been contracted bad magazines for the M9, which does nothing for its reliability reputation.

For the ones with the frame mounted safety: Lacking any decocker, are these cocked & locked only, or are they still double action, meaning you can either carry c&l or manually lower the hammer, ala the CZ-75?

Billenium was imported- only 2000 were made though. It is all steel, and origninally sold for about $1200. Prices have shot up now. Italian Berettas generally have nicer fit and finish, and I think they still use all metal parts.

Great link, thanks! Even with the R.L. Wilson Beretta book I was having trouble understanding how the 92SB differed from the 92F/FS/M9. I did see a 92S with the heel mag release in the case at a local gunshop a while back, and I remember it had really nice, deep bluing compared to the 92SB.

Logan5 the SB still had the Italian rounded trigger guard as where the F has the squared "combat" trigger guard. One of the changes made for the M9 trials.A more durable Bruniton finish is another difference. But basicaly the same functioning components.
