Silly Beretta question, does such a gun exist?

I'm not a Beretta person, and I'm not sure if what I'm describing exists. I didn't see it on their webpage.

Is there a 92 variant with a Vertec frame, frame mounted (1911 style) safety? Possibly single action only?

Now I have seen a Beretta with a frame mounted safety, I believe it was the M98. I have it in a Dutch reference book, going to have to find it now.

Earlier versions of the 92 series did indeed have frame mounted safeties, though they mostly weren't SA. The Billenium has one I believe. Many of the 80 series did/do as well. But since the Vertecs are rather new, they came well after the switch to slide mounted safeties.

No Vertec frame. . .

Shake, what is that? I wouldn't mind having one  Looks like a Brig slide on a standard frame w/ a frame mounted safety...

Beretta Billennium - limited edition only 1000 in the USA
Single action only, frame mounted safety. Nickle alloy steel frame and slide. Carbon Fiber grips. A beautiful Beretta. Hard to find now, but they do show up on the auction sites now and then.

I paid $1100 for mine NIB, and still haven't shot it yet.

Hey 10-Ring,

The pistol is the Beretta 92 Stock. I've seen it in Beretta catalogs, but as far as I know they do not exist in the U.S.?? The guys on the Beretta forum might know more about them. I'm not sure why they don't sell them in the U.S., because I assume they would be a big hit with the frame mounted safety.

Here are the specs and a manual in Italian (anyone speak Italian?). . .

They don't import them, but Beretta USA makes some pretty silly decisions like not selling 92Gs to the masses ('but you have the Elite!! ) and discontinuing the Centurion, even if the customer wants them.

They don't even advertise half the stuff they come out with. I get a couple PMs a month asking 'is that a Beretta' when I post pics of Nina because Beretta didn't put it on their website until a few months ago :banghead:

Skunk, I think the best we can hope for is that Beretta will once again sometime in the near future become a SMALLER company fixated on quality control and superior workmanship.

And that Italian pride thing wouldn't hurt either.

At one time the 92's had a frame mounted safety. That's why Taurus has a frame mounted safety. They bought the old Beretta factory in Brazil to make their pistols. Beretta then went to the slide mounted safety.

The original M92 had the frame mounted safety, and allowed for condition one carry. This had the rounded trigger guard profile. The next model came out with the slidemounted safety and continued with the rounded trigger guard (M92S?). The next version continued with the slide mounted safety and had the squared front on the trigger guard.
