Been a long time lurker on these forums and know that there are some pretty knowledgeable guys around here.
My Beretta stampede locked up at the range today. Basically the cylinder will not rotate at all and the hammer will not retract (it feels like something is blocking it before it gets to half-cock). I was using new factory ammo and have never attempted fanning the revolver or quick draw. I have never pulled real hard on the trigger while at half cock.
I had to remove the base pin and work the cylinder out just (with some difficulty) just to unload the thing. None of the external parts looked damaged in any way. I reassembled the revolver and loaded it up with snap caps. The revolver functioned normally while slowly retracting and lowering the hammer. When I dry fired the pistol with the snap caps, it locked up again.
Has anyone else experienced this problem with their Stampede or know what might be causing this? I'll probably open up the gun later and poke around but I'm not very familiar with Beretta's action.
