beretta storm

I have one and like it - a lot. Except, for an attrocious trigger, which I have as yet not worked on.

That said - you can get used to it and once ''in the groove'' this ''Flash Gordon'' gun rocks. May look wierd but ergonomics are IMO well thought out and the ''feel'' is excellent. One downside tho - it is rather over-priced.

I'd probably amongst my carbines pick this one up first.

My shootin' pal has one. Lots and lots of fun. Pretty accurate. For a 9mm SMG/carbine, the trigger really isn't too bad. I've had a lot of Uzi time and the CX is better.

I've only shot the .40....another "my buddy has one" responses. But it sure was fun...he put a $100ish red dot on top and I was tearing up the dueling tree with it.

i have a 9mm storm and it shoots great very accurate. although i wish their was a way to switch the barrel to shoot in 223, that would be sweet

Don't like the concept of a pistol caliber carbine. We carry pistols becasue they are small and easy to hide and are there when you need them. They are weak and short ranged guns and only a fool would take one to a fight willingly with foreknowledge.

We grab longguns when we know were getting into a fight. Longguns have more range and much more fightstopping capability. Pistol caliber carbines are just pistols with a tad more range, a trifle more power and more shootability over a standard handgun. They are a poor choice compared to a 223 carbine or even when compared to a good 12 gauge.

My, my, don't be so serious! Don't you ever shoot just for fun? The Storm is a fun gun and very accurate. Plus it's cheap to shoot (in 9MM). He didn't say he was going into battle with it. I love mine and would use it in many times over a pistol. You can get 30 round mags for it and it is easy to carry. Just good fun! :D (and it's cool looking too and you can add all sort of goodies to it. :neener: )

 I can always count on seeing a post from you in a Storm thread 355Sig :neener:

The Beretta Storm is SOOOO much more FUN (yes, I said FUN... some people actually BUY firearms for FUN) than my AR15s that it's uncanny. My son has tried SEVERAL times to lay claim to my Storm, and my wife recently fired my Beretta and also fell in love IMMEDIATELY.

TO ME PERSONALLY, I consider my CX4 Storm to be my ".22lr". It's not much louder than a .22, and the range is probably less, so I can shoot it in my father-in-law's 13 acre back yard without any complaints from the folks inside. They say they can't even hear it, and I'm only 50 yards from the house! But better than the .22lr, I get a bit of recoil and blast, so I don't feel like I'm shooting a pellet rifle.

Bottom line, if you will be FIGHTING A WAR or DEFENDING from ZOMBIES, then this is NOT the carbine for you... But if you JUST want to have FUN, then this thing is QUITE POSSIBLY the ticket! Also, if you're getting it for fun, BY ALL MEANS get the 9mm!

Oh, and one more response to the next comment that hasn't been made yet... YES, I can buy a cheaper 9mm carbine to have FUN, but I like the Storm better than the Kel-Tec or the other one who's name escapes me right now... (the ugly one with the hump)

If you want something fun buy a 10 22 and trick it out. Thats a lot cheaper to shoot and just as fun.

Storm 45acp

I have one in 45acp, so some of this may not apply to the 9mm or 40 cal, but it's my 2 cents on the subject. This little blaster rocks! Went to the range yesterday to site in my red dot and ended up firing 400 rounds. There is a lot of grin factor in this weapon. A couple of things that one should note in the Storm 45acp: (1) It does thump on the cheek when fired and this takes some getting use to. You know it when you pull the trigger. (2) I had problems siteing in the red dot until I found out that the front and rear sites folded out of the way (should have read all the instructions first), (3) It should come with the top rail installed from the factory. It's no real problem installing it, but should come from the factory already sit up with this option. (4) Once sited in, it's deadly accurate. It'll produce very small groups at 25 yards with boring consistancy. (5) Ultimate use would be for defense against Wookies, Garden Gnomes, Bridge Trolls, and the odd Martian that might show up at the front door. (6) I wish someone produced a high capacity magazine as it comes with two 8 rounders. A drum would be just the thing for this blaster.

The opinions listed above are mine alone. At my advanced age, this is the most fun my wife allows me to have by myself and un-supervised.

I also have an ar15, a .308 bolt,a 12 gauge shotgun, and a hk uspc. The ar15 and the storm are my just for fun weapons. Both are fun to put silly toys on, and shoot very very well. I always wanted a carbine. So now my collection is complete for now. So the trigger is kinda harsh at first, but you get use to it. Whenever someone fires it for the first time I always warn them about the trigger. Sometimes they go "is the safety on" etc... See if anyone locally has one you can try out on the range before you spend your money on one. Oh I think you still get the free $100 of beretta stuff when you buy the storm. Most stores don't know about it, check out beretta's website for more info.

I also have a CX-4 in .45 ACP and think it's great except for the lack of a high-cap magazine. Then again, hitting your target(s) with 9 rounds of .45 ACP at 50-100yards is better than missing with more rounds from a handgun.

That all said. if I had to defend myself at medium range, I'd prefer my Bushmaster M4gery with a half dozen 30 round mags.

If we can agree that this gun is strictly a recreational piece, I have few issues with it, or its owners. However, that ISN’T how Beretta is marketing it, and certainly not how some owner view it. Beretta would like the Storm to be a L/E carbine so much they put it on the COVER of their current Law Enforcement catalogue over at Beretta USA. WHEW!

355sigfan is 100% correct about guns like this. Unfortunately, so many whom are attracted to it seem to get unduly annoyed by facts like his. They just gravitate towards the “cool” looks . . . and easy recoil.

Sure, the Beretta Storm is probably a blast to shoot, just like 4 pound bowling ball would be a blast for any adult to send down the lanes at a lightening-fast pace. Either of these pseudo items would be far easier to use than the real thing.

The trouble is, neither that lighter bowling ball nor the pistol caliber long gun will do its owner justice in any broader sense. The bowler aside, the shooter will neither learn to shoot a pistol nor a true carbine, not to mention any real rifle. He or she will also get a superb set of mixed signals about trajectory, ballistics and recoil concerning firearms as most of us know them. Just think of the sad overall effect this will have on newbie spouses and kids (in the learning process) cause . . . HOT DAMN – it sure LOOKS like a real gun!

IMO, some folks are paying a very high price for this combination of cool and easy because the "fun" factor will never offset all those bad permanent memory thingys that WILL happen when newbies shoot a piece of this type.

:scrutiny:

Geez guys you talk like it is shooting Nerf hollowpoints filled with marshmellow love.

Is a short AR15 better for combat.....hell yes.
Does it teach you about rifle ballistics.....hell no.

Would it make a dandy self defense carbine for lots of folks.....Absolutely. A 9mm, .40 or .45 with the added bonus of a rifle platform making for easier hits would do just fine in 99% of the realistic HD or SD situations that one would ever face......not to mention it is fun enough and cheap enough to play with, (READ PRACTICE) frequently.

Some of us are gun nuts who need to have the best tools. Some of us are "Training" for the worst. Many of us shoot for fun and simply want a piece that will also provide a level of "DEFENSE".

What about an older person with arthritis? Handgun is too much, rifle is too heavy/too much recoil PCC is perfect.

I would prefer a good solid shotgun or semi auto rifle(AR15,AK, etc.) or even a lever action .30-.30 but I would not exactly feel underarmed if I only had a "lowly" pistol caliber carbine such as a Storm, USC, Marlin Camp Carbine, etc.

OK. But it's marshmallow love.

;)

Edited: “Neener” removed as a courtesy to cslinger and replaced with a “winkie”.

You see words hurt, Neener smileys hurt............a 9mm out of Storm certainly would hurt.

JERK! :D :neener: Just kidding.

You know I thought that looked wrong but I just couldn't place it and was too lazy to look it up. I am a stream of consciousness kind of writer.

I agree with the pistol caliber carbine being useless - completely useless. I mean, what army would field one?

Well, I mean of course the Israelis have the UZI and we and every other country have the MP5, and of course there are those 9mm AR's that we use, but other than the whole combative world, who would use one??

Ok, Ok, I love the storm and it's more fun than 20 strippers and pile of crank.

Not sure I really want to follow that one...
Aside from all the accolades did anyone here notice how thick the front sight wings are? They are so big that I have difficulty spoting my target out to 100 yds! Yeah I know its made for fun but believe it or not the 9mm is still in the air at that range :neener: and I'd like to be able to hit something I could actually see! Other than that, I liked the gun and felt it would make a fun addition to my collection if only it cost much less.

The front sight is a little thick, but it can be adjusted so that you don't obscure your target.....if you're holding at 6 oclock, then you center your target on the post and shoot. Should be no problem hitting anything at 100 yards.

Or, get a red dot and problem solved. Or, shave the front sight to whatever makes ya happy. Problem solved again.

Or, send your Storm to me and I'll shoot it at 100 yards!

The subgun is almost completely dead in the military. 223 select fire carbines have replaced them. The same is happening in LEO circles.
