Hey guys, Well I just made an impulse buy which I normaly never do. I went into my local gun dealer (Coast in Ventura CA) and they had just recieved a Beretta Tomcat NIB. Now the story behind the gun was that a lady special ordered it and then did not like it so they are stuck with it. So I checked it out and pretty much fell for it. I think it is a great little gun. Price seems kinda high ($250.00) but it is a Beretta so it is somewhat expected. So I dropped $50.00 on it today. What do you guys thinks of this piece. Now I also currently have a Bersa Thunder .380 That I am in the middle of the 10 day waiting period for. I wonder If I really need both guns? I intend to pocket carry one of these in addition to the G-27 I carryin an ankle holster at work. What do you guys think. Should I sell the Bersa or simply keep them both, I mean, we all know you can never have to many guns anyways right? ;) I would appreciate any thought on holster for pocket carry for this Tomcat. Thanks for the opinions. Juan

I went to a gunshow several months ago intending to buy a Kel-tec P-32 but went home with a Tomcat because I liked the feature set and I don't regret the decision. It's the gun that's with me most often and after 300 rounds or so it has never missed a lick. Not enough gun but a gun that's always there. The bore is filthy after one shot but it doesn't seem to affect anything. One thing I find very handy is the fact that you can remove and replace the slide so quickly. If you have to leave it in the car you can take the slide with you and leave something totally useless to a criminal in the car. It's fairly accurarate for what it is.

It is among the most accurate of mouseguns. I won many mousegun sidematches with mine. My very early model had proved to less than durable. Not unreliable mind you but the frame cracked, the slide cracked, that sort of thing. Beretta relaced it twice but on the third time they only gave me a new bottom end. My TCat now has the new lower with the improved safety and the old beat up bbl and slide. Probably has a couple thousand rounds through it.
The level of forepower is remarkable for such a small package. Fifteen rounds with a second magazine. Factory mags are the only way to go. The mag release button is handy after a little practice and you can reload quickly. I will get bigger sights like Xpress sights soon.

Beretta Tomcat

Hi DDJ,

I bought a Tomcat several years ago for my wife. She ahs trouble racking a slide and we both really liked the tip up barrel. We haven't had any trouble with it what so ever. It's a disappearing little thing for CCW. Be careful not to grip it too high or slide bite occurs. It's never bitten my wife, but she has tiny hands.

I've heard nothing but good about the Bersas, although I have to admit to never having fired one.

I'd keep them both, as I believe them both to be solid weapons and both to be very concealable.

Be Well,

Scarface

I got one of the first ones and wrote it up for GUNS Magazine. I got one malfunction each out of the first four magazines and none in the several hundred rounds I fired thereafter. It was accurate and relative to other small autos, easy to shoot - the sights are much more visible.

It is fully compatible with ball ammunition whereas the other mini pistols are stuck with short oal jhp loads. I believe this makes the very slight incresse in bulk over the Seecamp and NAA types worthwhile.

One local guy bought one and put three or more thousand rounds through it before it started malfunctioning. I suspect but don't know, that the magazine went south.

There are a lot of good reports on the Bersas too.
