A friend just bought a brand new Beretta Xtrema 2 shotgun.
He's ran less than a box of shells through it. Takes it out and every time he pulls the trigger, click, but no bang.
So I take the gun, tear it down and inspect everything. Nothing seems wrong. Gun is basically brand-new, but I thoroughly cleaned everything with solvent and lubed with CLP.
Hammer spring seems OK, firing pin spring feels OK, firing pin moves in and out smoothly. I did NOT disassemble the bolt as I don't want to void his warranty.
I put it all back together. Bolt drops fine, locks into the barrel extension correctly. Hammer seems to fall correctly yet will not even scratch a primer!?!?
I'm at a loss here. $1250 shotgun that runs less than a box of shells and is now non-functional? Pretty sad.
As simple as this thing is, I would think it has to be either a weak hammer spring, or broken firing pin spring.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
