If so, that would be a great choice, but a little over the OP's target of 800 bucks. My philosophy on 1911's has always been Colt if you want to spend under a grand, and Baer or Brown if over the $1000 mark.

I liked my Baer so much I've got a second on order now. I love that beautiful cardboard box and plastic bag packaging dripping in oil.

I've heard from two local gun shops that there was a recall on the first batch of 1911ss's. Anyone else?

Sounds like a rumer so the shop has something to tell there customers because it taking longer then they expected to get them to the market.

Absolutely.

Hmm... a 1911 for $800 or under. That's a tough one. Maybe shop around for a Series I Kimber. They're still plenty around. Honestly that's the only one I can really wholeheartedly recommend.
