Best .32 ACP?

One of my all-time favorite .32 autos, and in a really great looking, streamlined design, is the Beretta Model 90 Roma. I also think the Walther PP and PPK, and the Colt Model 1903 are right up there too as great .32 autos to have.

cheese bigot,

First gun I mentioned in post number 2 was the browning 1922......

One of the most interesting guns I ever shot was a .32 1908 bayard. Not saying it would be a good range toy as it is too small and beastly, but interesting.

BTW their appears to be a CZ scorpion in the new Cap'n America movie "Winter Soldier."

Another vote for the Walther PP.

I've had the German PPK/S, French Manurhin PP, and the IA PPK/s. All great guns. For shooting, I prefer the longer slide on the PP.

I have one of the CZ-83 .32 acp and consider it the pinnacle of .32 acp handguns.
Just curious if you've ever had a problem with rimlock, that seams like a pretty cavernous mag for the little 32?

Several months ago, after reading up on the .32 ACP, I started searching for a Walther PP. Most of the ones I've seen were beaters, and a bit overpriced at that.

In the last four weeks, though, I've found a Beretta Model 70, and a nearly NIB CZ 83. Both are tack drivers, and really have great quality. For a pocket gun, the Beretta is tops. For range use, and maybe holster carry, the CZ 83 is tops right now.

I'm still in the market for a Walther, and if I found a PPK/S, that would be OK, also. I've looked at a few Sig P232's, and at least one Sauer 38H.

Never had a rimlock issue in the CZ83 but the gun does not like to feed hollowpoints.
I consider that a moot issue since .32 acp hollowpoints are overpriced for what one gets anyway.

CZ redesigned the magazines, brilliant little idea that forces the upper round in front of the lower that all but eliminates the possibility of rimlock.
Redesign is on the left.

Onmilo,

I usually don't like finger grooved grips, BUT those are NICE!

Who makes them and how much?

You mentioned HPs don't work well, does that include Winchester Silver tips?

Thanks for the heads up on the magazines.

The grips came from CZ-USA
By hollowpoints I mean ANY bullet with a hole in the end

I usually shoot GECO, RWS, and Sellier Bellot FMJs, all of which are becoming catch as catch can.

"I've been jonesing for a .32 ACP range-toy pistol"

VZ61. No question. The combination of bad-ass, impractical, small/handy, loud bark, and minute recoil make it, in my estimation, more fun than a 22LR pistol, or just about anything else out there. Only gun I've shot while giggling with a stupid grin on my face (maybe when I get one of my belt-feds finished, there will be another, but those aren't pistols)

I've always heard the DA trigger on the PP/PPKs is heavy, and the same for clones. I can verify the clone DA is bad, but had mine slicked up. The CZ70 is not as heavy as the clones. This is the first forum I've read that anyone has said PPK DA triggers are good. The CZ83 has the best DA pull of the bunch. I admit my personal experience with any PP is nil, though. I think the CZ70 is smaller than the CZ83. I also think a CZ83 32 acp would be almost as much fun as a 22 for extended shooting. The 1907 Savage (Patent date is 1905) has a very stiff recoil spring and mags are semi impossible to find. They were made from 1908 to 1928 and if all there will always go bang. At least mine have. They are a cool gun but I don't think even an all morning gun.

At first, I thought is was my clumsiness in loading the mags. I would have to literally disassemble the mag, and start over. I finally got out my Uplula mag loader, and I haven't had a rimlock since.

I'm a big lover of Beretta pistols and have shot and owned several .32's in the past....nothing wrong with a Tomcat but it's not at the top of my list. I have several friends who own them and like them very much.

I'm still hoping for a Beretta Pico with the touted .32 drop in option but since shooting my Wife's Glock 42 I'm wondering if maybe waiting for a Pico will give way to buying another Colt 1903 or a Beretta 81fs..

Are there just 4 companies making .32 pistols now (not counting the vz.61Scorpion)

Kel Tec
Seecamp
North American Arms
Beretta

Is that right?

I really enjoy shooting the 32 acp round. I sold my CZ 70 but still have a Kel-Tek, an FEG, and also an Astra Constable which has the best trigger of almost any double action handgun that I have.

My .32 Walther PP has been a favorite range toy for years. It's quiet, accurate, and the recoil is insignificant. One caveat: the sights keep getting smaller as my eyes grow older. These day sights with big bright dots make my range trips a lot more fun.
