Favorite range .32acp is beretta 82
Of the .32ACP pistols that I have fired, my favorite for the range is the BERETTA model 82 Cheetah. I found these pistols being sold at a gun show for @ $200.00. They were ISRAELI police trade ins and while some of them looked worn, the basic design is very reliable.
Mine is the only pistol I have found that is 100 % reliable with FEDERAL Hydra Shok .32ACP ammo. It is my carry load for this gun.
At the range, the good sights, great trigger and comfortable grip combine with the light recoil to make an accurate and pleasant gun to fire.
For a range gun, my second favorite would be a COLT 1903. This gun is also very reliable, but not 100 % with Hydra Shok. It is easy to control and shoot and the sights are usable, but inferior to the BERETTA.
I have shot a BERETTA model 70 and it shot well for the same reasons as the model 84, but was harder to take down and reassemble, so I went to the model 84. In both guns, the large grip area, reliability and good triggers made these guns fun to shoot and accurate.
My most often carried .32ACP is a WALTHER PPK. If I could only have one .32ACP, this would be it. It is the best balanced pistol for this caliber. Very compact, so it is easy to carry and conceal, unlike the BERETTA or COLT.
The trigger is not as smooth as the BERETTA and the sights are small, but usable.
I have found the gun shoots well enough to qualify with and carry this gun often. I carry a FEDERAL Hydra Shok round in the chamber and COR BON Powerball in the magazines. The Powerball is 100% reliable in this pistol.
When the PPK is too large to carry, I use a BERETTA Tomcat. It is just right in size for a really small pistol. The grip is large enough for me to hold on to, the sights are small, but usable and the trigger is smooth. It has also proven very reliable.
I recommend all the pistols above as I have personally shot them with the exception of the BERETTA model 70 which I found difficult to reassemble.
