Best All Around Gun?

What in your opinion is THE best all around gun for everything ccw, hiking, targets, size, mag capacity, ect?


I would have to say the Glock 22 in .40 S&W or Glocks full size .45

SP101 in .327 mag solves that problem, as another poster pointed out, if you miss with the first five, you can take yourself out with no six and avoid whatever pain and terror caused you to fire and miss five times

38 super 1911 9+1 capacity easy to ccw not too heavy with the right ammo even a wild pig can be an easy kill......some times.

Ruger 10/22 fits the bill for everything but CCW, but even then it would depend on your definition of concealed.

Give me a 10/22, a dozen 10 round rotary mags and 2 bricks of ammo and one can about do it all.

Surprise! SP 101 .357 mag. covers all bases - But I like my GP 100 .357 in 4" better, most of the time. As to missing 5 out of 5 - you definitely have not been practicing enough. What happens if you miss 9 + 1 (or 10, 11, 12, etc) - some really serious problem to correct there. Besides, the .357 is supposed to blind and set on fire the bad guy, even if you miss!

^Not true.

A 70-year old military retiree in the Louisville area took out two thugs with eleven rounds from his semi-auto. If he would've only had a five or six shot revolver, he would've been a dead man. Thanks to his high-cap semi-auto, he prevailed over the perps. Chalk up yet another "V" for a "good guy" carrying a semi-auto.

12ga pump shotgun with a folding stock and extended magazine. It will fill the need from shooting trap to hunting deer to finishing off a home invader. It is multiligual. The sound of a pump action cycling is one of the most feared sounds to ever hear in the dark and is understood in all languages.

If you need to carry concealed then you need more than one gun. But one could carry a folded 12ga beneath a coat, if the situation required it.

It would help if you actually knew what you were talking about.

The shootout occurred at "bad breath" distance, and BOTH assailants were hit MULTIPLE times.

A lot of you "revolver guys" have the idea in your heads that one perp will automatically go down for each shot fired, and that you're never going to miss.

Sorry dude, it just doesn't happen that way in real life. That "one shot, one kill, no misses" garbage usually only happens in the movies.

Also, if you bother to read my signature below, you'll know that the Illinois State Police dramatically IMPROVED their hit percentage after they wisely switched to semi-autos over four decades ago.

If I had to choose only one

it would depend on whether I'm in town or in the woods.

If in the woods, one of my lever rifles in a .3x.

If in town, prolly my mod 65.

Why do you assume that it only takes a single bullet to "stop" someone? If a man were attempting to take your life would you only want a single bullet?

Back on topic: Hard to say. For my uses I would say a G19. Its easily concealable for me, holds 15+1 rounds of 9mm and its reliable. I have guns for three reasons.

For home defense.
For conceal carry.
Because it pleases me to do so.

The G19 fits all three of these better than any other single pistol. I wanted to somehow make it a CZ but had to give it up to the Glock because honestly, its the gun I would pick.

Thats just for my personal uses, obviously if I hunted ducks I would pick something else. If there were no conceal carry in my state I would pick differently.

The one gun thats perfect for everything? Thats easy enough...
The bolt action, 12 ga Marlin Goose gun with its convenient 36" barrel. If you run out of ammo you can stick a net in the end of the barrel and catch birds or fish.

If you run the magazine dry and still have a bad guy coming after you, you can swing the whole gun by the barrel and definetly break some bones.

Need shelter, just carry a tarp and you can use the marlin as a tent stake(probably what its best used for anyways).

Got a garden? The marlin makes an even better tomato stake.

Its perfect for everything.

AK47. It doesn't excel in any one aspect, but it's the closest thing we have to a do-all rifle.
