If I'm gonna hunt with factory loads, I'll bite the bullet pricewise and go with the Norma. My M-N sporters will shoot acceptable hunting groups with the Wolf gold loads, but will consistently group 1.5 MOA unscoped with the Norma.
Texas law prohibits the use of FMJ ammunition on game animals. I dn't know about ya'll's states, but down here it's a pretty big no-no to kill a White-tail or Mulie with non-expanding ammunition. Not to mention the risks of wounding the animal are higher with a non-expanding round, because it just bores right through without really transfering much energy. All in all, it's not a recommended practice.
It's also illegal here in Utah, and most states as I understand it. Unfortunately, hollow-point target bullets are technically 'expanding' rounds even though they aren't designed for controlled expansion.
