A 1X dot has no parallax? Hmm, try taking a paper towel roll, cover the far end with tape and poke a hole through it. (you have just created a cheepie "reddot"). Now, look at a far object and move your head around; still see the object? Parallax.
Chris, I agree, once you get some trigger time in your past, you get good at a consistent cheek weld, eye position, etc. But beginning shooters don't have this skill, and the best path for beginners is to get them safe and having fun (by hitting what they aim at).
