What do you think would be the best mount and rings for a deer rifle? I am putting a Leupold Vari-X 3 1.5-5x20 on a Remington 7400. It's got a Weaver rail and a set of iron sites. For deer in heavy woods out to 100 yards.
I pulled off a cheapie BEC scope on real cheap see-thru rings. I would like something I can quickly detach and re-attach. The quick-release Leupold Weaver rings are around $40 and the Leupold mount and rings with the dovetail you can twist off is also around $40. Less expensive but just as good would be nice, although $40 isn't going to break the bank. I'm just not sure which is better.
I don't have much experience with scopes. Any other mounting systems I should check out?
