Just bought a new RRA 16” mid length AR. I went to the toy store thinking I would pick up a stripped lower and start from there, but when I saw this rifle with the desired two stage trigger at a good price I whipped out my credit card. I really like this new rifle, even better than my 20” H-BAR Bushy.
Going even further into debt, I ordered an EOTech 512 and a quad rail middy hand guard from CTD. I'm really impressed with the quality of the $59 quad rail, and the EOTech is way cool too but I don't think I'm happy with the absolute co-witness sight picture.
I need experienced opinions on the best (and most cost effective) way to raise my holo sight 1/4” or so. I don't think I want or need a QD mount, my Bushy has a Nikon 3-9x40 on it and I also have an iron sighted NRA Mini. I wont be buying any night vision scopes any time soon so barring a complete failure of the EOTech it will be staying put on this rifle.
The RRA mount and sight look like the nicest by far, but I don't think I want a fixed rear sight (that could change when I get a chance to see a lower 1/3rd co-witness) The LaRue QD looks pretty good and the price is OK, I don't want QD but if it stays put then I guess it doesn't matter much.
The Yankee Hill Machine mount is very interesting, I especially like the $42 price, but it only attaches with one screw and it looks like it has an additional front “rail hook” on one side only. Has anyone ever seen one of these YHM mounts in person? How secure is it?
Any other ideas on how to get a lower 1/3rd co-witness?
