EoTech on top of my RRA rear sight/ "handle"??

This is probably a stupid question, but here goes:

Would there be any problem zeroing an EoTech if I mounted it ON TOP of my RRA rear sight/ "handle"? The thing I'm talking about mounting the EoTech on is not a normal carry handle, but RRA calls it a handle (I think) - it's mounted on the receiver's flat top, has a rear sight, AND has a rail long enough for an EoTech, but I'm just wondering if this would be a dumb idea? Would it be too high properly zero the EoTech for 100 yards? Would the EoTech be too high to get a rapid sight picture?

I know most people co-witness the sights with their EoTechs, but I don't think I want to do that because I want a more open sight picture with the optic.

I found a new 512 for $250 that I want to jump on, but was just thinking about how to mount it and if I wanted to sell my rear sight/ "handle" thing. If I did sell it, what would be an appropriate asking price? Enough to cover a flip up rear sight?

What would you recommend?

are you referring to the RRA Dominator mount? if so, this is perfectly tailored for the Eotech and co-witness with the irons.

that said, it is pricey compared to a stand-alone BUIS and say, a YHM Eotech Riser.

It came with my rifle and I guess it's called a "tactical carry handle" but I am at a loss as to how it's used as a carry handle???

So, can I mount an EoTech on top of this w/o problems? Would that be stupid?

Try it out and see if the placement works for you. If it does, there's nothing wrong with it. It may be too high, or may not be (never used one personally) but if the relative height is good for you, go for it.

The tactical carry handle was designed for the Aimpoint. The Dominator was designed for the Eotech. You can mount the Eotech there and it will work OK. The sights may be a bit high; but they shouldn't be too bad and a good cheek weld isn't necessary with an Eotech.

You also won't get as flat a trajectory as you could with a lower mount, especially if you zero at 100yds. I'm not sure whether it would block irons or not. So short answer is "Yes, you can make it work but it isn't ideal."

Not to get to far off topic but does anyone know how the RRA Dominator mounts to the rifle? Does it slip over the existing rail and tighten down?

I prefer the sight on the rail and not on the tac rail. The BUIS is an ARMS #40L flip up.

I've got a Bushmaster with the tall carry handle. I believe the A-2 rear site, that's fixed. I just put the EoTech on there. I've yet to shoot it yet, but I'm not too worried about it. If it doesn't work, I can get rid of the POS upper and get a better one.
