Frog lube isn't that repackaged Turtle wax? Seriously though the 1911 has been around for over 100 years and it has needed no special lube to make it the pistol it has become. I use Mobil One Syn 15/50 on all my pistols and rifles. Save your money to buy more ammo.

Indeed. That's why I bought the Wilson Combat oil: it came in a bottle that allows me to deliver it where I want without making a huge mess, unlike my can of PL-S!

I know nothing about it myself, but I've heard really good things about Slip2000. I just received a free 2oz. bottle of their "EWL" (extreme weapons lube) and I'm going to give it a try. I read their propaganda on their web site and other reviews and it seems to be something pretty cool. Additionally I read that they offer it in different weights - they have a "heavy" version that doesn't run and they have grease as well.

I'm going to give it a try and see if it's better than other stuff. I read that after using it in a rifle bore, it's extremely easy to clean. We'll see.

I bought a lifetime supply of lube for around 7 bucks: a quart of Dexron ATF. I use it on everything, including my 1911s and it works fine.
