Hi am looking for the best scope rings under $100 for my Bushnell 4200 6-24x50 with 30mm tube on a .308 Rem 700 sps varmint. Thanks

It's hard to go wrong with Warne rings, which are steel, US-made, and cost only $30-60 depending on the type you want.

Talley is considered "the best" by some, I have no experience with them.

Leupold and Burris make good rings too.

I would generally avoid Weaver-brand rings as they are inconsistent and generally low end.

Best meaning price is no object, or best meaning very good performance at a reasonable price? If you mean the latter, Burris XTR rings are nice and what I use on a similar setup (same scope with a Howa 1500). If you mean the former, something like Nightforce, LaRue, Leupold Mark IV, etc.

I used standard Leupold rings/bases to mount one on my .30-30. Very nice fit and finish.

Cone-Trol may be the best, but they are not easy to set-up. Warne are very good and Burris are nice. Have used most brands listed here so far, and they all work. It's about fit and set-up, even with Weaver rings. I have never had a problem with Weaver rings (especially the 4x4) IF they are fitted properly and have the right cross bolt. But they can be finicky to get right w/o a supply of spare bits to swap around :scrutiny:

I like the one piece Game Reaper from Dednutz. $40- $45 total. No alignment issues either.

I have the same scope and it sits in a set of Burris Sig. Zee Rings. The scope is on a T/C Icon so I had to use the Zee rings with the inserts to get the cant I needed. I have been very pleased with them. But on the 700 I would probably go with a canted rail and a set of Leupold Mark IV. I have a set of those rings and they are very, very nice.

I'm sold on the Warne Maxima rings. All steel, dont leave ring marks on the scope, they dont twist the scope while tightening, look good, work great, cheap....... gotta be missen something;)

I tried several rings with my .25-06 and 4200 combo. I finally found a set that I liked. I am using the Talley Light Weight mounts, and they work, and work great.

I will not use any other base/ring set on a bolt gun again. Finally! Finally! I have trust in my scope/base/ring combo.

Thanks for the responses. I think i have decided on the Warne Maxima rings, but what model (tactical, fixed, ect) and height of these rings would you suggest for a 50mm objective on my above mentioned rifle?

What type of base? I'm running rails on both my rifles, and the lows are plenty high. My LTR needed a cheek riser, using the HS precision stock. My Savage has a B&C Tactical Medalist stock, and is perfect with the high comb.

I will not be using a rail i will just be using the holes remington alrady has for mounting.

What are your opinions on the Warne vs the Burris rings?
I've used a little bit of everything, including several pairs of Burris rings. They're okay for the money but I don't care of the contruction or operation of their method of clamping. I prefer Warne QD's for everything.

Regardless of what rings you use, you will need a base. For your rifle, I'd suggest an EGW picatinny rail.

After trying many different combinations, my recommendation is a one-piece aluminum Picatinny base such as LaRue, EGW or TPS and Seekins Precision rings. I like one-piece bases that have an integral recoil lug such as those from Badger Ordnance, LaRue TPS. This set up is ideal on a hunting rifle or tactical rifle although I use steel one-piece bases on my "tactical" match rifles. Seekins Precision rings are hands down the BEST rings I've ever used and I have a lot of rings such as Leupold Mark 4, Warne QD, Talley and Badger Ordnance.

If you buy a one-piece base, you'll see 0 MOA and 20 MOA options. Even if you don't plan on shooting long range, the 20 MOA base seems like the logical choice. It won't have any adverse affect on you or your optic (not that I can think of anyway) and may well give you options in the future.
