After a recent trip to the range, I find myself yearning for a new pistol..similar to the one in the title ;). I only rented guns that I had never shot which is why I'm here now. I shot a Kahr K9, Sig p239, Glock 26 (I love Glocks but the baby ones are not for me) S&W M&P 9 (also not a single stack but i just wanted to see what all the fuss was about) I really liked the Kahr... ALOT but I know S&W used to make some all steel single stacks as well. Any thoughts???

thanks again!!

My Sig P239 is a great gun.

I bought mine used as a "police Trade-in".

It has dot the I night sights.

A great trigger.

I added Hogue rubber finger grips.

I carry 7 in the mag - one in the pipe & a loaded mag in my front pocket ... 15 all told.

I have tried others .. but keep coming back to the Sig.

I also own a S&W 6906 I used to carry concealed ...

Heavy gun .. very accurate and totally reliable for years now.

I own a S&W M&P also and they are really great guns ... especially with a trigger kit.

Have you tried a Kahr T9? Similar to K9 but nicer and easier to shoot IMO. Hard to find but worth it.

HK P7 is a good one too. The P7 PSP has a heel mag release, but is a good bit cheaper (and easier to find) than the P7 M8 with its American mag release and other slight upgrades. They are very good shooters and are small enough that they can be concealed fairly easily.

I know you said single stack nine, but I'm going to throw the Ruger SR9 in the mix. It's a double (17 rnds) that feels like a single. Supposedly the grip is slightly narrower than that of the 1911.

Just put some calipers to my SR9 and it measured around 1.18 inches across.

It does feel slim, and good.

I own and carry every day my Kahr CW9. I could not be happier with for a concealed carry gun. The Kahr K9 is a fantastic pistol and I would carry that if it were not like $350 more.

All of the Kahr's have amazing triggers, as smooth as you will ever find. The recoil is surprisingly very soft for a gun of its size. The ergos are pretty good but I also put a Hogue Handall Jr on mine and it made it even better. It's not so much the finger grooves, but the little bit of palm swell that makes it a lot more comfortable. It also really helps with the grip when you use hot loads. The only downside is the capacity at 7+1, however I carry two spare mags on my belt and if I can't get it done with 22 rounds I have bigger problems.

If you really liked the K9 and can afford it I say go for it, I don't think you will ever have a second thought about it. If you have any questions feel free to PM me.

Shawn

yea, i was leaning towards the CW9 but i just loved the heft and feel of the all steel K9

You should look into the Sig 290. This gun comes with N/S and a DAO trigger. In reference to the Kahr guns, a couple of friends had problems with their guns. Most of them were magazine problems, cheap mags. Some of them has to put 500 rds or so through them to break them in. Before the 500 rds., FTF and FTE.

The Ruger LCP 9 has also been getting good reviews.

I think the HK P7 PSP or P7M8 are the best single stack nines. The only downside is they are heavy, but with a decent holster they are fine. Very accurate, reliable and easy to shoot.

No, never seen a T9.. Is it just bigger than the K9?

No, not exactly. The T9 has a longer barrel and grip and looks similar to the K9 but the frame is a bit different. The slides are very similar except for the length.

Here's a T9 above a K9 and a pair of corresponding polymer Kahrs, a TP9 over a P9

I'll go along with the HK P7. Reliable, accurate, slim, flat, compact, and built to last forever.

Come on. The best single stack 9mm is the Sig 210.

Get one of these if you want the best single stack 9mm. The machine work inside the frame is better than most companies do on the outside of the frame. The trigger is near perfect (especially on the -5) and they are laser accurate.

Very nice Sig! I have yet to find any locally.

For CCW, I have a PF9 and PM9. Carried both for years and they have been 100% reliable at the range.
