Looking for single stack 9mm

The S&W 3913 or a variant seems to what I'm looking for. It's the right combination of cost, size, and it seems to have a few groupies who will vouch for its reliability.

I am very happy with my SIG 239 and am amazed at its reliability and ease of accuracy for a relatively small pistol. The Kahr K9 is almost as nice.

Actually, it's a friend who's looking for a carry pistol. My buddy likes the SIG 239 too, but it seems to be beyond his price range, and they're getting difficult to find (as are most pistols as well as 9mm ammo :^( I suggested the SIG 225, but I think it's a little bigger than he'd like.

I did see a few S&W 3913s on GunBroker. I'll also look into the 908.

Thanks for all the help!

I don't have one a 3913 but have had the chance to shoot one at the range on several outings.
Every time I've used the 3913 the thought has occurred to me that if someone wanted a fairly cheap, reliable, small 9mm from a major manufacturer it would be one I'd ask them to consider.

I feel well served by my K9, MK9 tandem but I'd like to make it a trio someday with a T9.

As far as I know any of the 7.62x25 Tokarevs can be easily converted to fire 9mm by just changing the barrel and barrel bushing. I've converted my Romanian to fire both 9x19 Luger, 9x23 Winchester, and 9mm Largo that way. I've just ordered 2 of the Yugo M-57's, because they have the safety set up like the 1911, and they have one more round in the magazine. For CC, I'll be using the 9x23 Winchester. I'll get .357 Mag ballistics in an auto-loader, with 9+1 capacity, faster reloads, less muzzle blast and less recoil. I have been using the Romanian in 9x23 Winchester, but I'd prefer using the same manual of arms for all my pistols. The Romanian has an entirely different safety.

I shot my friend's P225 tonight and it was very nice. Noticably slimmer than my older bud's P226 that I got to hold side by side.
