that said, if you're shooting tight, it's likely you will jack up your POA by shooting it. so you'll want to offset your POA POI some so you can keep the same POA for all shots
I make most of my targets using either scrap cardboard or some of the cheapest white poster board found at Hobby Lobby. I lay out the target as a grid with a medium point marker. I then use a flat washer appropriate to the distance I'm going to shoot and center it on a grid crossing. I then draw around it with the marker. This gives you multiple aiming points on one piece of target material.. I use a small level when attaching the target to the backer board. I aim using the grid marks and the circle is just an added reference point. If the target is level and your scope is mounted correctly everything is aligned and you don't shoot out your aiming point. Peep sights get a series of circles. Post sights get a black bull. I draw the size circle I want and paint it in with black tempra paint which which I find cheaper and quicker than a marking pen.
I used to use Hoppe's 100 yard sighting targets but they quit making them so I had to improvise.
