Okay fellow firearm enthusiasts, give me your opinions: which AR under $1,000 offers the best out-of-the-box trigger? And by "under $1,000", I mean anything in the $1,000 range.

Thanks!

why not buy the ar you like and install the trigger you like? you can still keep it under 1k and it'll be better than any factory trigger out there.

There's not enough low cost trigger options that would come in a $1000 gun or factory rifles under $1000 with good triggers out there. I would just buy whatever gun had the options I wanted and then put a geissele trigger in it.

If I built it my self, I could build a nice AR with a Timney 3lb for under $1000.

Of all the factory AR triggers I've owned, the S&W with JP reduced power springs is the best. I might have got lucky, but my S&W trigger has no extra travel and breaks clean at 4.5lbs.

Rock Rivers have a very nice trigger break out of the box.

Ther are some reports of them wearing out over the years, but I would guess there are probably more RRA NM triggers in the field than any other "match" trigger made.... Probably by a huge margin. Given that it seems to me reports of failure are pretty rare.

I have owned a dozen or more over the years and shoot thousands of rounds per year with them and have never had a problem. They have all been a delight to pull.

But I wouldn't let the trigger be the sole driver of a buying decision. You can easily put a good trigger in just about any AR you buy.

My S&W M&P 15 Sport trigger is a little heavy, but has no creep and combined with the 5R rifled barrel is a consistent MOA shooter off the bench. Since I paid $599 for it a couple years ago, I could put any match trigger in it and still be well under $1,000.

Gotta go with the flow here. Get the AR of your choice and and put the trigger of your choice in it.

modified mill spec
single stage match
two stage match

Put in what you like, if you change your mind, change your trigger.

Several good ARs available for around $800 now. Put a JP trigger/hammer/springs in it and you have a nice AR under $1000 with a great trigger.

Exactly this. Geissle (sp?) are the best I've ever tried. They typically range from $230-$300. If you possess reasonably levels of mechanical aptitude, you can to the install yourself. Lots of youtube videos starring the man himself showing the installation process. You shouldn't link the trigger to the purchase to the gun any more than you should link the magazines to the purchase of the gun.

Geisselle with be the best trigger but you will pay from $200 to$300. Rock River has an awesome trigger for about $100.

I gotta admit I'm not a match trigger kind of shooter. Yet, I do like the two stage type on the AR platform. I'm not sure of all the makers that offer that trigger from the factory, but I do know that Armalite does. I do like the Armalite trigger quite a bit indeed.

The Rock River has an amazing trigger out of the box. I can tell a huge difference when I shoot my Rock River and then I shoot either the issued M16 (FN) or M4 (Colt). The Rock River is very crisp and clean and feels lighter and more predictable.

I bought a S&W M&P 15 used for 850 and put a giessle ssa-e trigger in it for 230. Best trigger I have ever used, first stage 2.2lbs second stage 1.3lbs and very crisp with no over travel. easy to install as well
