i also concur with the savage, tons of aftermarket as well and doesnt require a specially equipped gunsmith to swap a barrel on them either

I bought a Savage Model 10 with accustock and accutrigger for $600. I spent more on the glass. I just finished working up a load and I am shooting sub 0.25 moa at 100m.

I have a Rem 700 ($650) to which I added a B&C stock ($250), Jewell trigger ($250) and the same glass and I have not gotten to one moa yet.

I haven't shot a Tikka but have head good things about it. I prefer a heavy barrel.

So my vote is for a Savage for out of the box accuracy with lots of cash left over for good glass.

A bone stock 308 Remington VS will do this off a bipod at 100 yds. But it does have a scope:rolleyes:

And that was with Remington 150 grn corelok. Shoots it better than Sierra Matchkings. She likes the cheap stuff:D

I have Remington, Savage and Weatherby (Howa) 308's that will all shoot under an inch at 100 yds with the right ammunition. So I suppose it's not a matter of the most accurate rifle but combination rifle and ammo. All of my bolt action 308's were under $500, except one of my 700's was bought new.
