For the money what is the best bang for the buck in a 9mm defensive gun?

What size?? 9mm hanguns range from pocket pistols to full size pieces.

For a pocketable piece, the best bang for the buck is a Kel Tec P-11 or a PF-9

For a full size piece, Bersa Thunder 9, a Cougar or a Ruger P Series.

Look at the Stoeger Arms Cougar. Possibly the best bang for your buck in a quality weapon. It won't break the bank getting it.

Ruger SR9.

It competes in the league of guns like the M&P, XD, Glock, etc... but costs $370-385 instead of $500-550.

For the money you can't beat a 3rd gen S&W auto or a used G19 or G17.

WhatCougarman said. They can be had new for around $400 and you're basically getting a Beretta.

I vote Taurus PT92. I have high-end stuff, but that gun was the most reliable and accurate gun I have shot, for the price of course. Never malfunctioned, not ever.

The best value and bang for the buck is the Czech Cz-82 or the Polish Radom P64 9x18 Makarov. They can be had for under $200.00 and far better designed and built than a majority of today's cheap pistols made by Bersa, Rossi and Taurus.

for striker the glock 19 and xd are tough candidates. If you prefer a hammer CZ's will keep you in that price range. I am spoiled and like my Sig's and HK's. You need to be more specific. Bang for buck is tough to interpret.
