I'm looking for options that I may not be aware of.

I have the stock molded contour grips (pic attached) and like them pretty well but they could be a little thinner.

After doing some looking and not wanting to spend much (but I do want black), I seem to keep coming back to the Navidrex thin grips at Brownells. http://www.brownells.com/handgun-parts/grip-parts/grips/browning-hi-power-combat-grips-prod9563.aspx

I think my only concern is that I don't want them to feel flat.

Questions that come to mind:
Does anyone here have them? Is there any palm swell to them?

Keeping the budget to the $50 Navidrex in mind, Is there any other thin black grip options out there?

Can the factory be thinned with out the material and the 2 planes causing too much problems?

I'm using black G10 grips from Hogue that are much slimmer than factory wood. Seem plenty slim to me. I forget what they cost.

I have short fingers and those over molded and finger grooved types are too big for me.

I want to go a little thinner than what I have or just keep what I have.

I replaced the factory wood grips on my Hi Power with slim panel grips from Alta Mont Company, $36 plus shipping. They very similar, even slightly thinner, than my 1911 grips. I like them but they are flat so you may not.

I have plastic factory grips like yours, factory French Walnut, along with Nill,Hogue, Spegel, Navidrex, etc. The factory plastic grips IMG_6152.JPG are pretty thin except for those thumb rests. The thinnest I've personally used are the Navidrex black micarta you're considering. I have a pair on the GP in the photo. Very thin and flat, no palm swell whatsoever.

Pachmayr Model # B-HP Browning Hi-Power 9mm/.40

@ Brownells

Very slim and VERY comfortable.

Both Navidrex and Hogues ARE flat - that's how they managed to make them slim profiled. If you want true radiused grips that don't cost much, than the Pacmayrs that drband mentioned are a good option. Just throw away the back strap and cut away the front one - make them two separate panels. But do consider this:
They are somewhat thicker than factory grips, but this only bothers people with smaller than average hands.
Signature model has a thumb rest and a raised portion for the trigger finger.
Combat model has a raised portion for the trigger finger (it's like a thumb rest for lefties).
I believe that your problem with factory grips is not thickness, but the cross section - it's trapezoid with sharp thumb rests and those features make them uncomfortable for most people.

Best regards,
Boris

Thanks for the replies thus far.

I like the current grip fairly well... I'm just looking to try something different to see if I can find an improvement while not spending a lot trying to do it.

About hand size.....using a fitted glove for comparison..... A small glove size is always too tight for me and mediums normally fit my hand fine but the fingers are a little long.

Using the M&P9c for comparison, The Med grip feels nicer in the palm area than the small and kind of more naturally falls more squarly into my hand if that makes sense. But the small grip allows me to wrap my fingers around it just a little better while feeling a little flatter. Its noticeable, to me, even though the difference in circumference is about 1/8"; maybe a tad more.

Judging by some of the replies, it could be that I've reached the point that the flatter feel may be the needed trade off to get a smaller circumference. I may need to just take the plunge and get the Navidrex slim and just accept that I may need to pay shipping to send back if I don't feel any overall improvment..

I was not aware of the Hogue g10's. Hopefully someone knows how they compare to the factory ones I posted a pic in the OP.

Which grips would you say have the largest swell to fill the palm? I'm in the opposite camp from the OP; I have large hands and the Hi Power feels so small my left hand can't really get a good grip anywhere.

1KPerDay, from my limited experience I would say Pachmayr, but with front and back straps left in place. They don't have a palm swell, but are relatively thick and combined with the oval cross section I find them very comfortable. Bellow is a pic so you can get an idea of their thickness.

Best,
Boris

Danez, I have smaller hands and thus slim line wood grips work very well for the P-35 (for me that is.)

If your hands are larger, there are many other options.

Issued with short fingers too. 6.75" from the wrist joint to the end of my 'trigger finger'. 6" to the finger pad. Only ever had Pachmayr's on mine. The pistol fits my hand like it was made for me.
CF issue wood grips fit too.
