Big 5 to sell Garands for $100!?!

I was in Big 5 the other day talking to the gentleman at the gun counter about WW2 era rifles were he brought up this little piece of info. According to him there was a large cache of Garands found in Israel, and Big 5 purchased 100,000 of them to be sold in thier stores for a price of in or around 100 dollars. Now to me this sounded far feteched, but then he brought a preorder form and asked me how many I wanted. "Gimmie 10!" was the only response I could think of.

Has anyone else heard of this? Even though he did write me a slip, I am still kind of sketchy, sounds way to good to be true (sure hope it is though).

I will call my local Big 5 tommorow. I doubt the $100 price though if it is true...the sales guy was probably just saying that off hand and meant more like cheap as opposed to literally.

Okay fell'as the nearest Big 5 is a 1000 miles away in TX. IF ANYONE gets one for $100, I'll give $200
+ ppd for as many as you want, if in good or better condition.
For $100 it's worth buying a ticket on Southwest to the nearest city with a Big 5 and buying as many as you could afford.

I would caution you that making statements like that on a public forum could result in a visit from Agent Schmuckatelli of the BATF. You just described a straw purchase, and the person who did the buying from Big 5 would be guilty of dealing in the business of firearms without a license.
