MARVELOUS Fantisy!!!

Heck an M1 stock is worth $100 in rough shape. :rolleyes:
Went to a Memorial Day Garand shoot and stocks started at $100 and went up from there, the cheapest Trigger Housing group was $250,. a whole rifle in any kind of shooting shape starts at over $600:p There are
4 "Cinco Grande's" within a 1/2 hr. drive = I called 2, talked to 1 manager I'd bought a K-31 from & he Knows NADA from Garand... Told him to call me if by some mirical this 'rumor' comes past his back door:rolleyes:

Well, Duh!

I called 2, talked to 1 manager I'd bought a K-31 from & he Knows NADA from Garand...

Probably because John C. Garand has been dead for quite some time, and the M1 Garand assembly line shut down in the late 1950's, with DoD rebuild lines finishing up in the mid to late 1960's. ;)

If this turns out to be true and you own Big 5 stock, dump it, because the guys running the company would have to be morons to sell Garands for $100.

What a lively discussion

Unfortunately, Big 5 does not have Garands in stock, nor will they in the short-term future. Beyond that, who knows? The only relic currently priced at $229 is the Savage made Enfield, which has a sale price a bit above $89.

Yeaaaaah, I checked 'em out and yeaaaaaah, $89.99 on sale...but I think they're bogus because they are labeled as M1-D and M1-C and have been Bubbaed up to fit some kinda funky old Weaver or Lyman Alaskan scopes which are attached. Dang! I knew it was just too good to be true for real surplus M1 Garands.
The ones my buddy's neighbor's godfather's cousin's son saw were real old, the obsolete gas-trap versions, and even a few tool room prototypes with John C. Garand's notes of what needed improvement on the wrapper. Heck, they even had a couple of the Japanese copies of the M1 Garand. Unless you really LIKE to clean the original Cosmoline off :barf: or struggle to open up the can, you may as well just pass on these.

OK, if this hasn't already been satisfied, I called the Corporate office of Big 5 and spoke to the buyer of this kind of stuff and this rumor is NOT true in any way, directly from the horses mouth so-to-speak, in other words;
The guy who buys them, HASN'T!

Back when I worked at the corporate hdqtrs. store, there was only 1 sporterized garand sold, and that was for IIRC, $499 or $599

Thanks Simon for finding out for us. I hadn't heard back from the buyer yet.

It did sound too good to be true, but if it was true, I definatly wanted one.
