Yes, there are AOW FALs.
That's what they look like at night.
I own a Blackhawk in .30 Carbine. With a warm load of H110 it has a lot of muzzle flash. Not as much as a M-N 44, but you get the idea. It's great for mosquito eradication on the firing line with the firing impulse as well.
The 357sig also has a significant amount of muzzle flash and a loud bark, in my experience, particularly with UMC ammo. For general impressiveness, a PLR-16 Kel-Tec without the flash hider (optional) beats them all, though. Search for M2carbine's photos of his before and after flash hider. Not only is it a gee-whiz looking pistol, everybody knows about it when it goes off.
