Big Iron Barrels Group Buy: Anyone else not get their order???

Got to put in my two cents worth.
Back in July, Jule was looking for a junk 1858 to convert to double action. I had one that was beyond my ability to bring back to life. Bad pitted barrel, all chambers were .003-.005" different in diameter and pitted, cylinder pin looked like a snake and the cylinder shook and rattled on it.
I e-mailed Jule and he said he would like to look it over to see if it was what he was looking for. I sent it to him with a note to send me a money order for what ever he thought it was worth. With in two weeks, I received a money order for $75.00. I am very pleased with that. I repair blackpowder revolvers for a hobby but to me there was not $75.00 worth of parts in that thing.
I had to put this in because it seem like if something goes wrong everyone hears about it. But if something goes right, very few hear about it.

That's why I said, find out if he's legit or not. There's enough doubt right now that anyone who sends him money or guns is taking a chance. If he's legit, good - we in the black powder community like options. But $75 for a gun does not balance out what he has taken from people.
Has anyone contacted Taylors to see if there ever was a group purchase from them?
Has anyone ever been to his factory/store?
And explain Manyirons and his use of the English language from 12/05 to now...

I thought I would put in my 2 cents here, since I have had some dealings with Bigiron. Keep in mind that I do not work for Bigiron, and this is only a recounting of my personal experience with them. I sent Jule one of my 1858 Remingtons for some work awhile back and was very satisfied with how it turned out. You can view the details at the following link…pictures included:

I’ve spoken to Jule on the phone, probably 5 or 6 times, and he is very literate and knowledgeable about BP firearms. His style of writing when he posts might fool you into thinking that he doesn’t speak English very well, but that isn’t the case. He speaks English fluently with what I would describe as a somewhat british sounding accent. He is very friendly and easy to talk to and has given me some sound advice on some loadings for my BP guns as well as solutions for a couple of simple problems that I was having with caps and ignition of 777.
When he announced that he had some flooding problems with his shop, I took him at his word and also when he said that he had come down with pneumonia. Sickness can really knock you down and when you are running a small business that can put you really far behind in your work. To be honest, I’ve worried a bit about Manyirons since he is diabetic. My wife has a touch of hypoglycemia and I know that that can do some strange things to you. I get the impression that Manyirons diabetes is not controlled very well. I’m not making excuses, but it’s possible that Manyirons has done some strange things that he may not even remember.
Jule currently has the gun that is mentioned and photographed in the link above. I was impressed with his work the first time so I sent the weapon back for some more customizing. He’s had the gun since September, BUT I did tell him that there was no rush on this work because I wanted his best work and not a rush job.
I hope you guys can get things sorted out with Bigiron. Again, I’m just trying to relate my personal impressions and experiences with Bigiron, which have not been bad experiences so far. Maybe I’ve been suckered, maybe not…but either way I’ll let you guys know.
btw, shawnee has been to bigiron and met Jule in person...which I haven't...I've only spoken to him on the phone. Maybe shawnee will chime in here with his impressions.

As I stated in a different thread re:BigIron, my understanding is Jule expects help (that is much needed) shortly after the first of the year.
As LowKey mentioned, I visited BigIron twice because it is only about an hour's drive through scenic country for me. First time was to pick up some bullets and wads I had ordered but had gotten lost and to leave my ROA for some work. Second time was to pick up the ROA, which was ready and the work was fine. The order being lost did not bother me particularly because I used to live where I was serviced by a MickeyMouse rural post office and their mishandling of eBay shipments/receipts for me was common.
During both visits Jule was clearly "not feeling up to snuff" and was obviously behind on work - yet he was cordial and took the time to answer an assortment of BP questions for me with straight-forward, knowledgable answers. Both visits were enlightening and enjoyable. As LowKey also mentioned, Jule speaks with a foreign accent and sentance construction and, like most people for whom English is a "second language", writing it is much more difficult than speaking it. I did not meet "ManyIrons" and Jule told me only that ManyIrons has had a continuing and serious struggle with diabetes and he (Jule) and his wife have been trying to help him.
Like Low Key, I can relate only my personal experience with BigIron/Jule.
I certainly cannot refute any of the things posters have been saying about BigIron dealings in the Past. From the frustrations being expressed I don't doubt there have been troubles in the past but I learned about BigIron from this forum just a couple months ago so there is no way I can pass judgement on anyone on either "side".
To me, Jule has been quite a decent fellow so I'm inclined to think he will try to "make right" with people as best he can as soon as he can. Again, my understanding is that he will have help in a few weeks. I sure hope it all works out to the satisfaction (if somewhat delayed) of everyone but bottom line is only Time will tell for certain.

sorry but with proof of payment and the recipt. if you dont send the item thats mail fraud in the states ( no such thing up in canada)
im sure if someone sent a email to him threatening the same it would get his attention.

i think il sit back with my popcorn and see how this develops. its looking like it will be better than watching soaps on tv.

Yes, I was critical of the cost of Big Iron wads cost. Once upon a time I posted a rant about Wonderwads cost, and the guy who said to do it hisway, make a 1000 for the cost of a hundred or less.
I even cut Gatofeo a little for lending his name to such a high priced wad. To tell everybody how to make them, then to bless a company that charges an outrageous price for a pre-made pack of them for a few bucks, well, draw your own conclusion. If you are making a buck from it, all well and good, tell us so, don't just say "Oh, Yeah, I BELIEVE!!!"

I just read all the posts on the thread linked to and doubt that Jule types like that. Hell, I don't think anybody types like that without a conscious effort to make sure they put hyphens between every two words.
IF I actually spoke to him, for near half an hour, and not one of the stooges, he spoke with a better than average command of the English language. Better than the stooges does in their posts. Ebonics, we don't need, and I don't think diabetis is the reason for such diction.

Anyways, this is a great opportunity for BigIrons to put all of the "nay-saying nabobs of negativism" in their (our) place. Show that he is legit and make us "eat crow."

I still want 'em. I was just commenting that I hadn't received them. I've also heard absolutely nothing. I would really appreciate hearing from you. I'd like to know:ManyIrons said:
1. whether they have been received by you from Taylor's
2. if so, when did you receive them?
3. if not, when was the order submitted, and when does Taylor's expect to ship?
4. when do you expect to complete the work and ship them to me?
It's the waiting and not knowing what is going on that bothers me. As with all customer service, the more communication, the better! Keep your customers informed, and they'll be very understanding.

Yeah, I think Manyirons is real. I recall someone once thought I was Manyirons. His writing style has certainly changed, though. It's not Ebonics. It's Festus.
