I a currently debating of selling my Glock 19 to a family member because I hardly ever carry or shoot it anymore. Have any of you sold a larger pistol to obtain a smaller pistol either within the same caliber or +/- a caliber? I currently have a j-frame revolver additionally to the Glock, but would like to have another autoloader if I sell the it. Thank you for your opinions.

Yes! Well, I didn't sell it, but...my first pistol was the XDm 40 3.8". I wished they had a model with a shorter grip, and grip extensions for using a full-size magazine. A month later, XDm 40 compact comes out. So, when I got around to getting the XDm compact, my buddy ended up getting my original gun.

I sold a 1911 and got a M&P45.
I sold a Glock 30 and got a Taurus PT145.
I sold a Sig 226 and got a Gen2 Glock 17 then sold it and got a Gen3 G17.
I sold a Ruger P95 and got a Glock 26 then sold it and got a G27.
I gifted a Sigma 40 and got M&P40 and Glock 22.

I regret having sold any of them ... :banghead:

I replaced the 1911 with a Sig 1911.
I am hoping to replace the P226 with P220.
I am waiting to replace the Ruger P95 with soon to be released Ruger SR45.

Sell the 19 and get a 26

I sold a G20 to get a 19. Why? I hardly carried the 20 and had very few handguns. I carried the smaller 19. Had a 26 all along though. Will never sell it.

Yes, and then regretted it! Keep the 19! If you ever need a pistol in self-defense, anything is better than nothing, but when you are in mortal combat...you want a combat pistol...TRUST ME!

Eh. I have bought and sold many guns, and while I regret a couple specific deals owing mostly to youthful stupidity, I have always been able to find something that I liked better. The key is, don't sell it off until you know what you want to replace it with. Do that, and you will be fine.

If it were me, I'd keep the G19 and get something else if you want it. Only sold one gun in my life that I didn't regret later.

I have sold guns and regretted it later, but I was able to replace them easy. I bought the Glock based on recommendation over a more expensive pistol Kahr P9. I was thinking about replacing it with a cm9 or cw9. The pistol I regret selling most was my p3at, I bought a used one later on but it broke down. If I keep the Glock I'll probably go Ruger LCP over the Kahr options. Would a pocket 9 be a good compromise for the Glock?

The 26 isn't much smaller than the 19. I'd keep the 19 if I were you. The only pistol I haven't regretted selling was an FEG PA-63, but I got more for it than it was worth and put that money into the Glock 19.

I did buy a Ruger LCP and a nice kydex pocket holster from aholster for summer carry. Between the LCP and the G19 one can carry in any mode of dress more substantial than a thong. Not a great range gun though!

edit: I've heard good things about the P238 from a guy know who carries one. I've no personal experience with them, however.

I can shoot the 26 as well as the 19, maybe even better. So, if carry was the issue I would sell/trade for the 26.

I bought Glock 29sf. It replaced my LCP after I realized that having a gun w/o realizing that fact is actually pretty bad idea. I have seen the light and am going to nix everything else as it is pretty much superfluous.:scrutiny:

When it comes to carrying them...it is noticeably smaller. The 26 definitely conceals more readily, and more comfortably, than the 19.
This is corrent. And this:
