Bill O'Reily on our side finally? Wow. I think so.

I also turned him off today, forever.

I learned today that he's not a friend of anyone who loves American freedom as it was originally intended.

Hard to take Bill O'Really seriously. His pontifications have no intellectual underpinnings to them, and I consider him to be merely a populist pundit.

Bill is somewhat on our side, but he is simply ignorant on guns. I actually called in yesterday to his radio show and told him that concealed carry could have maybe prevented this massacre. Pointed out that the old 'blood will run in the streets' argument is bunk because very few people actually get permits to carry. Only a few hundred on a campus of 25k would ever bother to get a permit, even in a pro-gun state like VA.

He cut me off and said oh but you'll have too many accidents etc. BS. We all know that permit holders are by definition responsible people. Again, very few people would bother to hassle with getting a permit. But he wouldn't let me make my point.

He also keeps saying we have lax gun laws in VA. Huh? The ******* at VT passed a STATE and FED background check. We have no waiting period, but what good would a waiting period have done here? None. He bought the gun in March, killed more than a month later.

I think he is essentially pro-gun but being a born and bred New Yorker, he is too ignorant still on the issue. I think he can be educated though. He is getting better.

O'Reilly's opinion is important and I have yet to understand what he means by Virginia laws being too lax with regard to firearm purchases. They already do background checks. No system is perfect. He said that bad guys could fake their ID's and buy firearms. Well, how in the world is he going to change that? Afterall, they are bad guys. It still is not that easy as you need several pieces of information that all have to syn together from an ID perspective.

He also seems to be under the false impression that you can live in NYC and drive to Virginia and purchase a handgun from a dealer with an ID. This is just not the case without a dealer to dealer transfer.

I believe guns are just something he was never particularly interested in. Katrina brought him around to the idea that the police can not protect you. He is likely just not well informed it seems and probably thinks laws such as those present in NYC and New Jersey are about right.

He is from Levittown, PA originally (between Philadelphia and Trenton NJ), not New York. He lives in NY as I understand it. He prides himself with his blue collar roots.

Last night, he also said that there should be rules limiting the "amount of firepower" someone can have. He didn't elaborate on this, so I have no idea what he meant, though I would guess that it might mean magazine capacity.

Ah, that's not what his FOX Bio says about him. He came from a rich family, since he was born in Manhatten.

Born in Manhattan and raised on Long Island, Bill O’Reilly holds a degree in History from Marist College...
