Egg Sucking Populist at heart

O'Reilly can sway with the wind but seems to be finally learning that the government will not take care of you and yours in a pinch.

The interview with the Alioto woman was priceless. She actualy did say "I grew up with armed tactical officers in my home when my father was mayor and never felt I needed a gun to protect myself. I hate guns". She was so dumb she couldn't even see how elitist she was being, ala Rosie O'Donnell et. al. "If you are worried about your family, just hire armed bodyguards, right?"

I'll give O'Reilly a few brownie points on getting this one right and backing it up with logical arguments.

That woman would be the first one at the microphone after any SF disaster to blame Bush and the government for not protecting her and her property from armed and dangerous looters.

The bottom line, IMNSHO, is this will be overturned in the courts just like the last time they tried this.

Dangit, I gave him brownie points on this one too, then decided, "what the heck?" and watched him yesterday to see if he was on a roll. He lost all his brownie points while arguing with Ben Stein and Wayne Rogers re: gas prices.

My mom heard it. Now she finally agrees that they need some sort of gun in the house, just in case. She's been leaning that way, but O'Reilly tipped her over the edge I think. Now I get to take my parents shotgun shopping!

Poor bastards? They voted for this, it's voluntarily. Screw them, and that's as High Road a way as I can think to put it considering that this is 100% self inflicted. What else can you do?

Actually it seems to be about 58% self inflicted. My heart goes out to the other 42%...

Didn't see the TV show, but yesterday he was very specific -- you can have a gun for self defense, BUT ONLY IN YOUR OWN HOME.

Futhermore, his absolute ignorance about gun laws is stunning.

He can stay off my side, thank you.

Ah yes. Let's push away everyone into the anti crowd who isn't a full blown gun absolutist.

Straw man anyone?:neener:

I don't want O'Reilly on my side -- didn't mention anyone else, now did I?

Yep you don't need a gun. You just need to wait 2 weeks for the National Guard to come in and another week for the phone company to fix the lines. Then your relatives can dial 911 and hopefully enough AWOL police officers have come back into town so they can file a report and look at your bloated waterlogged corpse in the morgue. Looks like you've been raped and then strangled during the month of anarchy. Case solved, off to the donut shop.

PERFECT! BRAVO!

sent this to his email ([email protected])

The Second Amendment is a doomsday provision, one designed for those exceptionally rare circumstances where all other rights have failed—where the government refuses to stand for reelection and silences those who protest; where courts have lost the courage to oppose, or can find no one to enforce their decrees. However improbable these contingencies may seem today, facing them unprepared is a mistake a free people get to make only once. " -- Justice Alex Kozinski, US 9th Circuit Court, 2003

Yeah, I hear him too. B.F.D.

He's singin' a different tune now but I still don't think he really gets it. If he's really serious about it, he should apologize for all those times he painted NRA as an extremist organization.

EVERY SINGLE TIME I've heard him mention NRA in the past, it was always followed with "who thinks every home should have a bazooka on the cofee table". :fire: What a crock!!

I wish just one person could get through on his radio show and ask him what he thinks about NRA now.

Yeah, he's workin' for our side...................for now.

I like O'Reily. Do I always see eye to eye with him? Not by a long shot but he is pretty good in my opinion at what he does and is one of my favorite news shows.

[rant]That said as for "need". Lets look at needs versus rights shall we?

John Kerry- Owns a boat that eats more gas on a trip then my car does all year, and I own a Camaro. Doesn't his wife own her own plane too or something? And something about a bunch of SUV's? Wasn't there something about him buying a boatload of SUV's?

How many loony leftys ride around in convoys of SUV's? And them puppies half the time are armored and supercharged, great for the enviroment.

How many say "oh you don't need gun's to protect yourself" and then introduce you to their armed personal guard that makes more a year then I do doing exactly what you think shouldn't be a right?

Last I checked only rich people can afford a Dodge Viper or a HUMMER. Ever notice a lot of our countries richist people are liberals? Wonder how many insanly fast cars George Soros has? How about some of the other rich lefty elitist? If you can afford a few million worth of cars you don't need that. How about signign a few checks to the less fortunate for your own private income distribution you so seem to want?

Having the right to own somthing has jack to do with need. No one needs a private boat, luxtury lot, car that can do 200+mph, HUMMER, and very few people are so high profile they need armed guards. And unless you live in an area prone to bad driving conditions or emergencies (snow, flood, etc) you don't really need an SUV either. But you know what? It isn't about need. It is about want of something I have the right to have. No one needs 50k worth of baseball cards either but you can. Its a hooby, a luxtury, a collectable, whatever. I need an AK47 like I need a hole in the head (no pun intended) I can defend myself in most situation's I am likly to run into with a hunting rifle or a handgun just as good as with an AK47. But you know what by god if they can have their toys I should be allowed to have mine. And by the way. How many of YOUR luxtury item toys are constitutionaly given rights? [/rant]

protected better for you?

I was ranting feel free to replace given with protected if that works better for you lol

I was listening to Sean Hannity today and he played a 911 tape. Somebody was breaking into a house. There was a lady on the phone, her mother (60yrs old) and a child in the house. You could hear screaming in the back ground and the woman on the phone was begging for help. 911 was telling her to be calm and stay on the phone. They would send help (yeah, and the ambulance and hearse too) Suddenly in the background there is a gunshot. Gramma shot the goblin. A couple seconds later a 2nd shot :D (must have been for good measure). I arrived at my destination so I couldn't hear any more, but Hannity was to have Granny on to tell about what happened. Anybody familiar with this?

I read the paper tonight and watched the news. NOTHING.:fire: :fire:

Oops, never mind, I see there is another thread and it will be on at 9PM on Hannity and Combs. Still, nowhere else.

I didn't see the show that everyone is commenting about here now. But, I did listen to O'Reilly talk about guns following the Katrina hurricane and the responsible need for a gun. He is a middle of the road guy most of the time except for his views on prosecuting people who abuse or kill their children for any reason or the judges who let them walk. I personally like O'Reilly's show and can see why it is No. 1. He is pretty responsible overall and does say what he thinks. I agree with the majority of his views that I'm aware of.

Nekron...send him a ". . .pithy comment"

Remember, he reads these on the air...go for it; send him an e-mail and comment about the NRA.

Lupinis calm down, calm down. Don't you know that the elites know better that us? Are better than us? Care More? Are For the Children?

Keep watching. The one thing (other than 2A) that bothers them the most is that we can vote. The transnational socialists ... remember the "global test", want to rule the world with unelected bureaucrats.

Calm down and be a nice sheeple.... baaaaa

*grumbles puts on the sheep outfit left over from a few halloweens ago and starts looking for a salad....since the loony lefties dun banned meat*

I always loved that one, the people that let domesticated animals go....which then get eatin or eat everything in the area and completly screw up the enviroment lol

I also love the fact PETA's (the looney one not the eating tasty animals one) vice pres takes insulin.

It was less than a week. We had the Superdome clear on day 6. But your point is very valid and very ture.

Visited your web site. Are ALL those beauties yours? Wowzers!

You would be the "go to guy" for a question regarding the price of a used item(s) I've been looking for:

In today's Classifieds, there's a SIG P220, .45, 2-tone night sights, wood grips and 5 factory mags for $675. Sez "like new." We'll see..any thoughts on the price?

Thanks

I caught some of BO’s radio shtick this last week (prolly 7-9 Nov, if you want to search his show archives) in which he described "common sense" gun ownership: licensing, mandatory training, in home only. :banghead: Not a 2A friendly kind of guy.

Because of Katrina and France problems, Bill said "Everybody should have a rifle".

Mountainclmbr would have said: "Everyone should have several concealable handguns, caliber starting with a 4. Everyone should also have a few rifles with high capacity magazines, with a caliber starting with at least a 3. They should also have at least 1,000 rounds for each serious gun, to not do so would be REDICULOUS!"

I saw the trail end of the segment. Very interesting, I always thought O'Rielly was anti-gun, I quess he realized many of his viewers are not and thought it would be wise to play up to us for ratings. I have heard that his show is falling in the ratings, anyone know if this is true?

cbsbyte - I usually listen to O'Reilly on the radio M-F on the way home from work, have one of his books and generally find his show to be stimulating. We certainly don't agree always, but I do like his style and conviction. Until Katrina, however, I was at great odds with him regarding RKBA. I believe he really has had a soul-searching on this issue. IMO, this isn't a ratings thing. Could be wrong, but that's my take on it.
