....how big of a difference can a good bipod make in the scores down range shooting FTR?

I have a cheapo (Caldwell) one on my .308 that I just put on there to see how I liked shooting long range and plan on doing a 1000yd comp this year.

I was looking at ordering the sinclair f-class bipod.

Let me hear your opinions.

just an opinion but it can help quite a bit. maybe not hte way you are expecting though.

if you get behind the caldwell and it just happens to perfectly line up, then you can shoot accurately easily off of it. but for the minor NPA type adjustments, it's awfully nice to be able to get your position and then dial the gun onto the x ring

the other thing is it has a wide base and footprint and will stay in the same position better than the little rubber bumpers on the caldwell. you can fix that with spikes or other types of feet.

What I can say is that Harris bipods are definitely worth the price over the cheaper copies. If you're solely doing benchrest shooting I can appreciate the Sinclair F-class bipods, but I personally prefer a more "tactical" (which to me means more practical) setup so I like my Harris.

My .308 I have only used it for F-Class shooting and the main reason I got it in first place. I have a 7mm Rem Mag, .243, and .223 for hunting.

^^^ Agreed.

The copies are reasonably built but will develop slop in time with use. Harris bipods do not. Spend the extra coin on the Harris.

Well, I went and pulled the trigger and ordered me a Sinclair F-class bipod gen 3 for my FTR setup. Now just to get it here and see how it works. Next thing I'm saving for is some real quality glass.

I agree harris is the best.

when it comes to glass dont go cheap! Im new at this sport and I am in the process of building a rifle everyone I have talked to and everything I have read says the glass is more important than the gun itself.

I chose u.s. optics tpal with the erect knob it was about $1000 or just a hair over. I recomend looking into the sniper 101 scope reviews on youtube that guy really knowns his ****.

i shoot all 3 f t/r 308 sit in a sinclair gen 3 fclass bipod , my tactical 308 sits in a harris and my ar uses a caldwell all 3 have a seperate purpose as for the sinclair f classs bipod i like it as well as my wife so much that she is going to buy her one here soon. i have read where some liked them some didnt for it did take just alittle bit to get use to but my scores have definately improved from using it .

"everone that you've talked to" is full of it

if they "think' that the glass means more than the rifle. maybe for benchrest, but I doubt that. If the rifle can' group good enough, seeing the target "better" ain't goingo to help any. A great deal of rifle shooting is done much too swiftly for any scope to be used, too.
