Well, like the title says, I laid down a painful amount of cash today. I ordered a Springfield M1A Loaded with carbon barrel and synthetic stock. It should be here Monday. I've always wanted an M1A/M14, but I've never had the money. With the possibility of another Clintonesque (or worse) ban looming in the near future I figured I better get while the gettin's good. I guess now I better stock up on USGI mags.

Congrats. For mags check out 44mag.com. They have CMI mags(the current govt. supplier). Bought some and they work, every round, every time.

Got a Loaded with the wood stock about 2 months ago, I love it. Enjoy!!

Is this a bad thing?

Man I hope not! That's the most I've ever spent on a gun, so I sure hope I'm happy with it. I've fondled M1A's incessantly at gun shows, etc., and really like how they handle, but I've never had the opportunity to own one 'till now.

It's only money, you'll make more...
I just have to keep telling myself that:D.... well, at least 'till Monday when I get to shoot it. I'm sure I'll find out it was worth it then. The way I figure it, the resale on those rifles is so high, even if I don't like it I can sell it for a minimal loss. If you know who gets elected, I could probably even turn a profit. Prices on certain guns are probably going to soar come November. I think I'll be happy with it though. Everyone I talk to that owns one loves theirs, and like I said, I really like the overall feel of the rifle, so I ought to enjoy it I think.

Good decision! I'm considering it myself.

Notwithstanding its short military usage, the M14 is a great firearm, when not fired full auto. In semi auto mode, it's a natural evolution from the Garand.

Jason G,

If I had all the money I ever spent on guns and ammo through the years...

It wouldn't change a thing.

Shoot your rifle and enjoy it. :D

Bought the same thing 4 years ago and it's become my most favorite to shoot out of my collection.

The absolute only real downside to an M1A is keeping it fed. Everything else is peachy.

Congratulations... (For dessert go get yourself some Black Hills 168 Match BTHP rounds) After trying everything under the sun I have happily found these to be great $ to Accuracy. My M1A-loaded (Walnut) has been keepin my smiling since feeding her these.

Well, my rifle came in today! M1A Loaded, synthetic stock, carbon steel barrel. The only thing is, I ordered the one that has the NM style flash hider, and the one they sent was the California muzzle brake version. No biggie. I was planning on swapping it out for a flash hider with a bayo lug or a Vortex anyway, so it's not worth the hassle of sending it back. Other than that, I am as happy as a pig in slop! I wish my memory card reader would work so I could upload some pics, but I promise to do so ASAP. As soon as I can get some ammo and range time I'll post a range report.

Go with the Smith Vortex, I have one on my Scout. They are amazing. It is truly a flash Eliminator. If it works on the 18" barreled Scout then I'm sure it will work on a Loaded.

Range report!!

Are they legal for High Power?
