Black Magic Bluing?

Well...the stuff looks promising from other reviews...bought some...so guess we will see....

I think I bought enough (of the concentrate) to dunk my entire barrel in it, Does anyone know if this stuff will hurt the bore?

Thanks again!

its a general machine shop blackening agent. My experience is that it tends to turn my hands black for quite a while after the finish is applied.

Looks like another cold blue. Maybe Bob and Owen will let us know how it holds up on steel (hands don't count).

It probably won't hurt the bore, but a good idea when bluing (even with cold blue) is to plug the bore and chamber with wood dowels, leaving 6" or so sticking out to use as handles so you don't touch the metal and mess up the polish.

Thanks Owen,

Do you happen to know if it will leave a more desirable finish if the metal is heated? Is it like a cold blue, where if I reapply (or in my case dunk) the metal in it every few days it'll develop a really deep finish?

It looks like just another cold blue, never used that one, but I have never had any kind of luck with any other brand of cold blue...

Let us know if it is any better than all the rest...
If it doesn't work, try slow rust bluing it!:D

Its been a long time since ive used it. I just remember being able to tell which fixtures had black magic on them, because they'd turn my hands black weeks and weeks after they had been finished. I don't think it was particularly long lasting, but this was 15 years ago, and I really don't recall.
