My own personal Paparazzi snapped the top well timed moment at our recent monthly CAS shoot. I was shooting Pyrodex shotgun loads along with my '58 Remingtons charged with proper Goex in Frontiersman. This first shot is now my desktop image.... :D The reason there's only a single coming out is that I went for a double drop and the softness of these smokey shells didn't have quite enough energy to drop either one. So I dropped one with the second shot then loaded this single to drop the last.

A couple of other shots to fill in some of the fun.

I like the cowboy action stuff anyway. But it's just that much more special and the smile at the end of the day is that little bit bigger when I use my smoke makers.... :D

If you want amazing pictures buy a high def camcorder. Then watch frame by frame you will be amazed by the caps exploding, smoke patterns , fire balls and fire rings you will see. I even got lucky enough to catch a ball and patch coming out of the end of my .58 cal. Howda pistol.

look at the center of the flame the top is the ball and the lower is the patch

It was only last night that I looked at the file size of the original that I used to crop down for the first image. At only 150Kb I've got a request out to the lady with the camera for the full file so I can get a sharper shot.

Mitchz, crop from the original and rotate it to zoom in on that fireball and I'll bet that it would look amazing!

All of the photos are great. I really like the ejecting shell and the round ball in the center of the flame and smoke.

I wouldn't have been shooting in that direction if anyone lived there.
That house has been empty since the 60's

BCRider, I'll bet your compadres really like the smoke those smoke poles create, I know when I shot CAS I shot Frontiersman, shooting a 1873 Winchester, an exposed hammer SXS, and two 1858 Remingtons, naturally using the holy black. It's amazing how I never got anybody too close to me, and the other shooters would draw straws to see who would have to be shooting next to me. ha ha.

Loose noose, there's a couple of us that regularly or at least semi regularly shoot Frontiersman. And a few of the rest went through their bout of BP "illness" but no longer use the proper Holy Black.

For some odd reason though they all seem to think that the smoke show is best appreciated from the upwind side of the stage.... :D
