A Democrat no less.....
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -- Gov. Kathleen Blanco is inviting the National Rifle Association to come to Louisiana for its 2007 national convention and future gatherings.
In a letter made public on Tuesday, Blanco touted Louisiana's hospitality.
"As a hunter and gun owner representing a state filled with avid hunters and gun enthusiasts, I can assure you that the National Rifle Association will receive a very warm welcome from the citizens of Louisiana," Blanco wrote.
She added: "As you know, Louisiana is world renown for its hospitality, its cuisine and its wide range of outdoor activities. It's for no insignificant reason that we are known as the Sportsman's Paradise.
The letter was written to Wayne LaPierre, the NRA's executive vice president. NRA officials did not immediately comment on the letter.
