OK, The Kate Beckinsdale-lycra body suit-machine pistol portion rocked.
The sling - definitely not for me. Seems like a lota labor and waste of 50 cord. If you're gonna do it to have the cord for a survival scenario, well, then you won't have the sling so why not just daisy-chain a butt load and stow it and retain the original or modified original sling?

You would be surprised how many soldiers are making those bracelets here in Afghanistan, different color's and beadwork added. Making money on the side, so take it a step further and make rifle slings. No diff then those leather whips some motorcycle rider's have clipped to the handlebars, like a cowboy quirt for their "iron horse".

I'll stick with USGI web or leather for a sling however and carry paracord separately. That way I'm not removing an important part of my rifle for cording.

I dislike that black web sling currently on the M16/M4 series rifle, nowadays so much is available from the private sector for military. You see a lot of variations in tactical slings that are a big improvement.
Had to stop by the weapons rebuild shop here on Bagram, spotted a M1907 sling still in plastic with NSN number. Still being used by the military after all these years, of course it left with me and is now on my M16A2. Would not believe how many officer's comment on it, and want one.
It will go home with me eventually, will go on my Winnie Mod-1917, have one on my Garand of course. An original Kerr canvas sling is on the 03A3.
What I like to put on my Brit Enfields are the 50/60's era green canvas Garand/M14 slings with the clip at the stock end and the quick adjustable buckle at the for-end.

Concur. I use my sling for more than just a carry aid.
