200 more rounds today with wwb ammo. Worked perfect. I did run a brush about a 100 rounds or so this time. Two of my buddies shot it this time with me and one will be putting his name on the order list tonight. Both guys really liked it.

I like it so far. Maybe there are recommendations for ammo out there that has a strong crimp. Perhaps there could even be a specific "Boberg" ammo someday.

hmm love the design but if it ever requires boberg specific ammo id probably get a 45gap

I sincerely doubt it will ever require specific ammo.

I didn't mean to suggest that it would be a requirement. Just a Boberg spec maybe for the crimp. Or "recommended" ammo, like with the Rohrbaugh.

I'd really like to see some independent chronograph numbers on this gun.

I've been on the wait list for one for some time now. Can't wait. It won't replace my HK P7, but it will replace my Ruger LCP.

I am concerned about those odd-shaped dings in the case wall of the empty brass in those pictures you posted. Do you know what caused those?

Also the lack of a follower is weird... how does the magazine retain the magazine spring?

This gun is super cool in a lot of ways, though.

One random change would be that you couldn't load the gun from slide lock- you'd have load by inserting a magazine and the hand-cycling the gun- every time. I am guessing as a result of this that there is not, and should not be, a last-shot hold open?

Nice observation - and you're correct.

How does the magazine retain the spring?
The spring is formed to seat squarely at the top of the magazine housing when there are no rounds loaded - lips on the housing retain the spring. Pretty simple.

I am really attracted to odd guns, and I'd really like to get one of these...

Here's what I think:

Pros
1. Longer barrel, higher velocity equals better ballistic performance from a smaller gun.
2. System should minimize felt recoil, though this is subjective.
3. The ergonomics seem to allow for a higher grip on the gun, so for the size, you can get more of your hand on the gun than comparable subcompact 9mm guns. I have never touched an XR9s, so that's just a guess based on the shape.

Cons
1. Can't load from slide lock. This slows the reloading process, as well.
2. Nothing against Arnie, but I think a lot of people would be worried about dropping a thousand dollars on a gun with a radical new design made by a company that doesn't have the ability to fix a major systemic flaw should one be found now that the design is shipping.

Man, I still want one.

Knowing Arne, he's thought this through far enough that I can't imagine there being any surprises. Wouldn't you think that several prototypes and thousands of test rounds would have flushed out any "systemic flaws"? Guess only time will tell. This I know for sure though, that there's no great gain in this life w/o putting it all on the line - and Arne's certainly done that! Cheers to good ol' American ingenuity and invention!

Well, apparently the "vaporware" accusations were at least somewhat unfounded. Hopefully this one works out well. It won't be replacing my CM9, though. Just not in the budget :)

Somewhat? It's been 8.5 years and over 10,000 hours of development by his calculation.

I mean, good for him. More power to him. But it has been 8.5 years since he started on it.

I wonder how long it would take any of us to invent and design a radically new handgun, build and thoroughly test working prototypes, then develop a manufacturing process from the ground up, all with our own financial resources - I'm guessing more than 8.5 years.

Wait time

I was on the pre-order list for a long time. I recently received an e-mail offering me the option to place an order indicating that the wait was 8-9 weeks.

Wow, I had no idea it had been that long. I only found out about it a few months ago. Talk about some perseverance!
