I was at B&N tonight and picked up this great calendar: Small Arms: 20th Century Firearms Head-to-Head.
Each month has two weapons of the same basic type, pistol, bolt action sub-gun etc in cut-away pictures and a short paragraph giving a history of the weapon followed by it's attributes on the upper page of the month. The lower page is the calendar with a side bar listing the three each of the strengths and weaknesses of each weapon.
In January we start with PPSh-41 vs. the Thompson M1928
Later in the year we have the Vickers .303 vs. the Browning M1919A4
The MP38/40 goes against the Sterling L2
The M-16 vs. the AK-47
And finally, in December, the Colt M1911A1 vs......wait for it.......the GLOCK 17. With one of the weaknesses of the 1911 being given as "aging design."
Despite a small amount of info for each weapon the author has provide argument fodder for a dozen threads.
Also each picture page is perforated if you want to easily tear out the picture once you are through with the calendar.
