Any suggestions on a reasonably cheap bolt action .22 rifle. I guessing that the usual ruger, remington, savage etc. is what I'm going to hear but I was looking for a little in put. Gun will be used for paper punching only

Tim;

It would be helpful to have an idea of your budget. It would also help if we knew to what standard the gun will be held. In other words, informal paper punching, club competition, or all-out accuracy gonna make the Olympic team? Also, gonna use glass or micrometer target sights?

As a possible entry into the sweepstakes, you might look around for a good used Anschutz target gun.

Informal paper punching. I'm not sure as far as price goes. I would like a reliable rifle. I went over to the Ruger & Remington website I was kind of suprised to see the MSRP of thier bolt .22. I know its MSRP but they are more than I thought they would be. Maybe I'll look used. I just want to get a fairly accurate gun that isn't a piece of junk. Thanks Tim

CZ452 LUX. Greatest value out there. Excellent iron sights and can accept a scope. Scary accuracy. Trigger can be adjusted with a trigger kit that you can do yourself.

+1..for the CZ452......Sactown said it all.....and I am up to four of the CZs myself......CZ Trainer....CZ Varmit....CZ FS.....and just for fun CZ527FS.223

The Remington 504 looks like a very nice rifle, but it doesn't have any iron sights. CZ rifles are also excellent, and have great iron sights. The Ruger 77 is also a good rifle, but its trigger isn't great.

So, +1 and +1 would make it +2 right?

When I got mine, the rear sight was out of alignment. Me being me, I wrapped a Grade 8 bolt with duct tape and used it as a punch to align the rear sight.... :D

+3 on the Romanian Model 1969 Trainer, if you can find one. I bought one for my son, and liked it so much I bought another one for myself. Now neither the Marlin Model 60 nor the 10/22 get nearly as much use as they used to. I just enjoy the Romanian so much.

But if I had the money and were buying new, I would get the CZ 452.

Get the CZ 452 its a wonderfull bolt action. Nearly the equal of an Anschutz sporter for 1/3 of the price. A.22lr is going to be your most fired rifle by far.

Spend some money on it don't skimp it will give you many years of fun and good service. Its also excellent for introducing new shooters. I have the special model with its excellent iron sights. Its reciever already has the 11mm dovetail for a scope mount as well. The irons are so good on mine that I have not put a scope on it yet, after 3 years and I probably will not.

Check out the Charles Daly Superior II. The MSRP is $259, but I got mine at Gander Mountain on sale for $149 or $169 (can't remember) It's a great gun and very similar to the CZ...

I picked up a used Marlin 25 .22 s.l.lr rifle for $75.00 recently. I like the fact that it will feed shorts. I do not think that Marlin is making these anymore. It is worth it to look on the used market for one.

CZ 452. You can get a special/rare long barrel one (29" barrel) called a Ultra Lux for $290 plus $10 s/h to your FFL from Whittaker's. The stock iron sights are excellent, in my opinion.

Their website sucks and may not be up to date. But, you can call them and ask questions/order.

My buddy and I both have CZ 452's and love them. Extremely accurate and very well made for not too much money. As said, iron sights on the CZ's are excellent, and the trigger can be made to be very light and crisp with kits from www.cz452.com . We sling up with 1907 slings and shoot from position at spinner targets at 50 yds. Lots of fun, man. :)

My cz 452 Lux shoots a single oval hole at 25 yards with Wolf MT. Well worth every penny.

This was a 50 yard group with CCI Mini Mags.

Yep count me in the 452 camp. Spectacular rifle and that statement doesn't even take into account the bargain price.
