The only real problem with either the Romanian or the CZ, is that neither is made in a left-handed version. If CZ would make the 452 in LHB, I do believe I'd own one.

For a left handed person who wants a bolt action .22 rimfire, the choices are very limited. You can either search high & low, wait, and pay more than you should for a Remington 581 LHB, or a Browning T-bolt, or not search & pay an insane amount for an Anschutz, or buy a Savage.

The Savage/Lakefield MKII is the only LHB .22 that's reasonably priced these days. About $130.00 - 150.00 should get you one. Extra magazines are way reasonable at under $10.00.

I've had mine for a few years now. It is a 60 to 70 yard gun on Montana gophers. I've got higher dollar .22.s that are 100 yards guns, but boy I've got a lot more money into them also. That's not to say I haven't had to do some work on it, but nothing high-dollar.

Sactown Said It First And Is Right On Target!

If you go with a CZ you will not be dissapointed. I have the CZ 452 American, and it is a sweet little shooter. Shoots rediculously small groups with normal/crap ammo, i.e. Remington, CCX etc. I have not even tried it with the German Olympic ammo I bought for it yet. I like the American model a little better than the the Lux, but the american does not have iron sights. You may want to look at the Varmint model as well, I opted against it. I thought it would be overkill to do the Varmint vs the american. My next CZ will be a 452 Varmint in 17 HMR.

Yup, thanks to Frenchy for the image of the Savage. That one's a .17, mine's a .22.

Contrary to the opinion of some, shooting a right-handed gun left-handed is a PITA. After you've been forced to do it the wrong way 'round yourself for a couple-three decades, Pauli, get back to me on how much you like it.

cb, all i can tell you is that i had no trouble when i did so, which was admittedly some time ago. it simply seems more natural to me to keep the firing hand in place and move the support hand to operate the bolt, which works nicely with a right handed gun in your left hand.

Thanks for all the advice. I went to a gun show today and stumbled 3 rommanian Trainers. One was $125 one was $99 and one was $69. I looked them all over pretty good. All were in VG condition. So I went hog wild and bought the $69 one :p Seemed like apretty good price compared to Gunbroker & Guns America prices. Gee with a price like that I can still look at getting a CZ452 also :D

One of each, now that sounds like a plan!
I'm a southpaw and I have a CZ Special and I love it! I shoot 1/2" groups at 50yds all day long. It's definitely one worth adding to your collection. IF you want to shoot open sights, go with the Special. For scoped rifles, go with the American. CZ has great accuracy and a real value too.
