I got a M24 stock for my remington 700 sps varmint and I dropped it in and bolted it down and when I push the button to release the bolt... the mechanism on the side of the trigger assembly sticks to the side of of the stock but I filed the inside of the stock down as much as I can and it still sticks any advice???

chriso, two possibilities here (and maybe more). One is that your trigger group doesn't have enough clearance but from your description this may not be the case. The other possibility, which I experienced when I installed a Jewell trigger, is that there's a burr protruding into the slot that the bolt release lever slides in. If you see a scratch in the shape of a slight arc on the side of the bolt release lever then you have a burr which can cause the bolt release to stick. The burr around the trigger pin hole may have been forced into the slot when you installed the trigger mounting pins. The file on my SOG multitool fit in the slot and removed the burr with ease ... no more sticking bolt release.

:)

I didn't install the trigger it's just the stock "lame Xmark pro trigger" that comes with the remington 700's... nothing seems to be out of place it's weird I cant figure it out and its kind of pissing me off... haha...

Assuming that it worked correctly before you started the swap, you'll need to do more inletting on the stock ... what else can it be? If you remove the action/barrel from the stock, can you see scratch marks or gouges inside the stock next to the trigger group (left side)? You should be able to see some indication that the bolt release mechanism is binding against the stock. If not then I have no idea what the problem is ... sorry.

i have had the same issue with my rem 700 bdl. if you dont get the barreled action sitting down coreectly BEFORE you tighten the screws, something binds. remove the barreled action and set it down working it from muzzle to breach a few times and evenly tighten the screw 1 turn at a time. all will be well.

Im at work right now but when I get home ill see if I can see any scratch marks of where its catching on to the stock... Also I was not going to bed the stock I was going to leave it as is and just torque it down right... any suggestions to why I should bed it??? Is the aluminum bedding block not sufficient??? If so any advice on how to do a easy bedding job "not so much easy but easiest"...

chriso, you definitely DO NOT need to bed your action to the stock since you have a full length aluminum bedding block. All three of my Remingtons are mounted the same way and they work just fine. moooose102 makes a good point about aligning the stock correctly and torqueing the bolts evenly. I torque the bolts to about 50 in-lb.
