Boot carry?

When I was active duty flying I carried the S&W Model 15 in an ankle holster on the outside of my boot, centered over my foot. That kept me from walking (or running) funny.

I boot carried a backup in my boots in the early 80's. It was uncomfortable and was always glad for cooler weather to put it in a jacket pocket. Fast forward to the present and being retired, I bought a nylon leg holster I saw in my NRA magazine . That thing works pretty well with both my bodyguard and my old model 37.

I know your gun, and the cool story on how you got it. My question is, were you wearing the boot at the time? :D

Kidding aside, though I had never considered that, I could see it working some.

Med, thank you for remembering.

yes I was wearing the boot. :)

It is actually quite comfortable, suprisingly a cheap uncle mike IWB holster clipped into the V at the front of the left boot worked well.

Sure.
Here is the story.
It was my original issued duty gun back in the 70' s, carried it until 84 when we went to wondernines The PD gifted it to when I retired.

The summer I carried it in my boot was when some some Yahoo who was a real threat was loose in our area. The cops finally got him.

Bikerdoc, I could see my Taurus 85 stainless 3-inch fitting there. But, just because you did it, I'm gonna try it with my own 4-inch Ruger Service Six..

I'm normally a boots and jeans (boot cut) type of man. As long as I've carried, it's always IWB except for special occasions, like when the wife and I go to the theater (as in not the movies). Due to the snugger fit of the armrests as well as the lobby crowd, I'll carry something small like a P3AT in my boot with a clip-on holster. I've carried a J-Frame as well but that rubs with every motion I make so it's not my common preference.
The clip-on holster goes inside the boot but it's on the inner side of my leg, not the outer as the OP pic shows. It's very well concealed carry. It's also a less conspicuous and smoother draw from there, especially if it's a dress slacks occasion. I don't do long walks with it in there since, even with boot socks, it'll rub enough after a while to become annoying. But I can easily spend a dressy evening with it there, or at least until I can move it back to IWB.
My daily wear are varieties of Ariat boots. The shank on those hold well as they're thicker material than my finer boots, where the shank is thinner and folds in to rub more quickly.
One last thing, regardless of my carry mode, I'm sure to practice drawing from several positions common to my environments. My goal being to shoot and stop the bad guy, instead of tangling my weapon in my shirt ,or hobbling and hopping around like a drunk, while trying to draw.

I said I was gonna try it with the one I have, the one my dad carried as a deputy back when I was also on the job, and I just did. It is indeed amazingly easy and "doable." I tried it at home, but without a loose-enough "boot-cut" pair of jeans on, and, yes, with a cheap Uncle Mike's I have. The most I notice as I walk about the house is that it feels kind of like one of my Saddlebrooks has a steel toe and the other does not. I'm impressed. Maybe a snub will go down there every now and then as a backup.
