I bought a EAA Witness p compact .45 recently and like it alot it's very accurate and easy on the hands ,however it likes to stovepipe the last round. Anybody have ideals why?

Sounds like a magazine issue. Does it do it with both mags? If worst comes to worst, you can send it back and they will fix it. I have a full size steel, have had it for a long while, and it still works perfectly.

My witness mags (15 rd 10mm mags used in both my Wonder Steel Full-Size and Elite Match) like to be stored full. If I let them sit empty for a few days before a range session, I tend to get FTF. Never had a stovepipe though.

Don't bother with the Promags.

To get proper function out of them in the poly frame you'll need to change to a factory follower and that will require some time with a Dremel tool to make it work 100 percent.

I have a little trouble understanding your situation because I can't live with one mag for a gun.

I'd start with ordering two factory mags for spares. If they work properly then you know you have a mag issue.

The first thing I would do is replace the mag springs with Wolff springs. I do that routinely on any gun that has any questionable issues.

The next step is recoil spring. EAA typically send guns out with recoil springs that are too heavy. That can cause stove piping.

If I had three mags and if the issue was consistent through all three, I'd get a reduced (by about four pounds) recoil spring and put Wolff springs in all the mags.

You can tell easily if you have the right spring combo. Your empty cases should land four to seven feet to your right. If they are going way past that you need a stronger mag spring and a weaker recoil spring.

If they are closer you need a stronger recoil spring.

My Witness Poly Compact is incredibly accurate, but it took a little tinkering to make it 100 percent reliable.

Loop, What recoil spring from Wolff do I order it say not for use wit double spring systems?

For use in:

Note: Will not fit models with dual recoil spring systems
