I've owned two kel-tec P32's, a P11, and a P3AT. I had problems with the P11, and P3AT, but the P32's were fine. I no longer have any of them. I also had a Seecamp 32acp, which was a nice gun, just hard to hold onto, and I wanted to move up to a better round.

So recently I decided to give the LCP a try, and bought one. I paid a hair under $300, and it came with the extended finger rest floorplate, which I installed. I took it apart, and cleaned it with CLP, and then lubed it with Militec 1 oil, and a little bit of Militec 1 grease. It feels a lot more solid than the Kel Tecs, and the frame does not bend inwards when you squeeze it tightly like the Kel Tecs do. I also cut a bike tire intertube to fit, and put it on the grip to give me a better hold of it. There isn't much to the sights, but with most guns this small that is normal. The gun is a little bigger than my Seecamp was, but when both are fully loaded the LCP is a couple ounces lighter. I bought a Nemesis front pocket holster which I like, and have used one before, and find them to work well at a decent price.

I got some various ball ammo, and Gold Dots and Hornday Critical Defense. I shot about 40 rounds, all of which was the ball ammo. I will have to fire some JHP's next time. I did have one failure to feed where the round hung up on the feed ramp. The jam was easily cleared, and it fired with no more problems. I definately need to put some more rounds through the gun, and I'm hoping the jam I got was just part of the "break in". I thought the recoil was going to be pretty rough, but it was not that bad. It was snappy, but I think the finter extension and rubber sleeve helped. Recoil felt less than a S&W Airweight with 38+P ammo, but more than my Seecamp 32 or Kel Tec 32. All my shots made it on a legal sized sheet of paper with most of the rounds fired being fired from 21 feet, and some from 50 feet.

You really can't beat this gun for overall price and performance. The gun costs about $300, and fires a decent self defense round in a package thats small enough to pretty much carry any where. I think the gun fully loaded weighs under 13 ozs. If you're in the market for a gun of this type, I recommend looking at one.

don't worry about those sights - on guns that small, you're not shooting silhouette, you're pressing damn near gun to belly

And for less than 300, sounds like you got a good deal

I'll go out on a limb here and say that it sounds like you have little experience with the LCP. When I bought mine, I really expected a belly-gun but got much more.

I quickly found that I can easily hold 5" groups at 15-yards off-hand with the LCP. This is much tighter than I would have ever expected, and it makes the LCP a much more rounded SD handgun.

If you ever have a chance to head over to pistol-training.com, you will find the blog's host, Todd G. has quite a few good words for the LCP. Todd G. has been known to show his students how and LCP can hit a plate target at 75-yards (not a realistic SD distance). The display of marksmanship is not meant to be boastful, but rather to show just how accurate pocket pistols can be, and that we can all can improve with practice.

I only wish that I could shoot mine that well.

If you need a little more room for that last finger, the Pearce Grip Extenders are slightly bigger/thicker than the OEM ones, and have slightly less curvature, allowing a little more room for the last finger on the grip. If the factory curved plate hits the middle of your finger, try the Pearce.

Been waiting for the Crimson Trace lasers to come down in price-just got one delivered for under $150 (ManVentures.com), and "should" qualify for "Batteries for Life" (1 set a year).
The factory sights aren't much-the Crimson Trace can help your aim match the gun's accuracy at longer distances/low light.

My trigger finger gets sore after about 50 rounds, but the gun is accurate and I get addicted to seeing how tight of a pattern i can shoot. I love my LCP. Never had a problem.

I own an LCP, 2 XD's (9mm 5" & .40 SC) and a 1911 (.45) that I use for CCing. I like all of my handguns but because of my destination and mode of dress I find myself carrying the little LCP 90% of the time. So far my LCP has proven to be reliable and surprisingly accurate for something so small.

I bought an LCP brand new at a gun show last week, and I love it. I paid $299. I've had it in my front pants pocket every day since I bought it. I did a scrub and lube before I took it out shooting. I put 75 rounds of 90 and 95-grain FMJ through it without a single hitch. Recoil was much less than expected from such a tiny light gun. My S&W 642 now feels like a .357 compared to the recoil of the LCP.

For me, the factory grip extension fits perfectly. I keep mine in a Galco leather pocket holster, and it works well.

I just ordered some Buffalo Bore 90-grain +P JHP, but then read on the elsiepea forum about a kaboom with this ammo. I'm going to hang onto the BB and not shoot it through the LCP until there is some more definitive information about this round in this gun. BB says it's fine, Ruger says it isn't. I'm leaning towards following Ruger's advise on this one.

Anyone found a reliable and potent hollowpoint round for their LCP yet? With the complete lack of availability of 380 hollowpoint anywhere I've looked, I'm forced to keep mine loaded with Magtech 95-grain FMJ. I think I saw somewhere it's rated at less than 850 fps out of a 2.75" barrel. Not that great.

Yep. Corbon makes a good JHP. Most won't spend much time shooting these as they sting a little, but they seem like a good option.

I too would have an LCP if it were not for the scarcity of .380 ammo.

I bought a Kel-Tec P11 and it seems to be a competent pistol.

Gold Dots working well for me so far.. over 100 of them down the pipe and perfect with them.

Getting better here in Texas... Luckly

I've shot the regular cor-bon and the DPX through mine with no probs. Also the Buffalo Bore "+P" HP but some said this may not be wise, so I only have shot 2 20-rd boxes through.

Remington golden saber no probs... hornady "TAP" (I think) JHP no probs. 5 brands of factory fmj no probs.

Only ammo that has caused any problems was some max-loaded JHP handloads... only ran one mag through. the slide failed to close all the way a couple of times, a bump on the back of the slide chambered fine. I'm sticking to factory ammo from now on in this pistol.

I've wanted an LCP since they first came out some time ago. I thought they were a little pricey, but since Ruger lowered their prices after the recall, I've seen some pretty good prices on them. The best price yet was $200 for a very nice used one in original box with 2 mags. That's the one that I now own and carry regularly. I switch between it and a Keltec P11.
