Saw it under the glass, has a six inch standard barrel and those target stocks. Very slight turn line, bluing is good. Minimal play in the cylinder. Pointed nicely. Double action trigger was smooth, but heavy. Single action was nice- one of the crisper ones I can remember using. Years ago I saw a similar one under the glass and passed on it. Kicked myself over it. Will take some pics later on today and post them.

Nice. I have a weakness for the old K Frames.

I have a 2" Model 10 that is mechanically perfect, but the finish is gone. I am going to get a second one as soon as I locate one in similar condition and make a pair of Fitz Specials out of them.

You can't have too many Model 10s!

2, 6, and 5 inch barrels are the hardest to find (at least in my area).

Were those the ones with the half trigger guards?

Yes. The one below is on a Colt, which seems to be the most represented....but it has been done on S&W as well, and I prefer S&W so that's the direction I am going.

I just think a matched pair of Fitz Specials in R/L Holsters...and I will make them out of caiman or alligator...with matching 6-round loop carriers will be great display guns.

By the way...your Model 10 is dead sexy.

Although I prefer the bottom feeders mostly, I have a weak spot for Model 10's. I have 3: 10-5, 10-6, 10-8 plus a Victory in .38s&w.

Yours is a sweet looking gun!

The first revolver I ever bought was a Model 10, many decades ago. Wish I still had it. One of the finest guns S&W ever made.

Thanks everyone.

Trying to figure out the date of manufacture, the serial number is 2D05xxx

I like the 10 also the 15 witch was also a very good shooter. I still have 7 S&W after I sold 38 out of my safe. Then had 2 40 and then sold one I like the 40mm. I have the 10 15 57 29 28 19 586 29 with a 10in for shooting silhouette

That serial number would but yours in 1977.

I have to agree with the likability of the K frame. I guess that’s why I have 6 model 10s with from 2” to 6” barrels, not to mention many other models of K frames.

Thank you for the date, very appreciated.

Nice find! Military introduced me to the model 10 nearly 50 years ago. Have been a big fan since. Picked up this nickle 10-5 last May. Shoots great. Also trying to date it.

Sorry, but that serial number makes no sense to me. A model 10-5 should have a SN of 6 digits with a “D” either preceding the numbers or mixed in the digits such as 1Dxxxxx, 2Dxxxx, etc. Be sure that you are getting the SN off of the bottom of the Butt, not inside the crane.

Got a chance to shoot the 10-5, but only two cylinders worth. Grabbed a box of Winchester +p 125 grain silver tips. This was from 12 paces away, standing using single action. The silver tips shot a bit low, but happy with how it shot. The fixed sight are regulated for a standard 158 grain load, correct? Will try and remember to grab those for the bag next time.

As someone who has more than a few S&W revolvers you would think I would know that. D746758.and thank you.

I owned a M10 for 20 years but never shot it.Dry fired it,all that did was strengthen my trigger finger.I carried a M19 and when I retired I gave them back a pristine M10.
