Back in 1990 I bought a modle 19-5 round butt 2.5 bbl. from the back then lgs. My wife dropped it once on the range and put a small dent mark on the bottom of the frame rite at the crane and a small c shape scratch on the cylinder. We split up in 1994 and I sold it to the local pawn shop as I needed money for an apartment. Last week I go into the same pawn shop ( new location ) and there sits a 19 with the same ugly Hoge rubber grip. I ask to look at it an sure enough sme marks on frame and cylinder. After I got it home I looked in my old bound book and yep the numbers match ! Thats 24years. What are the odds. The blueing is a little worn but lock work is great. Think this one will go on the keeper list.

Now that's some awesome gun karma right there! No "thinking" about it; you and that gun are meant to be together forever!

If it were me I would leave it just the way it is, scuff marks, worn bluing, and all. Kind of goes with the saga of being separated for 24 years and then being reunited!

Congratulations! Back in the day, when everyone from insurance companies to police departments were urging people engrave their SS on their property to make identification easy, I foolishly engraved mine under the grips of a Model 19. It couldn't be seen, but it's there. I later traded it off. Now, all these years later, I don't think I see a Model 19 that I don't pull the grips.

One day...

Read the Medium frame Blackhawk Thread.

If you love something set it free, when it comes back you hang on for dear life.

I was going to say the same thing. I certainly love my M19 snubs

Nice Karma!

Only gun I ever bought twice is my Astra A600. I liked it well enough, but traded it towards a nice all-original Eddystone M1917. It didn't sell, though and I felt sorry watching it sit on the shelf for month after month. Eventually I took it home again!:)

That’s just plain cool, right there, Test Drive. That gun was meant to be yours and that just proves it.;)

I owned a Model 28 3 different times in about 6 months. Got it in trade, a few weeks later, sold it back to original owner then got it back in trade. Sold it to a third guy who just had to have it and was willing to pay my "not for sale price" and the next week had buyers remorse because he really couldn't afford it so I gave him his money back. Kept it the last time for about a year and would up trading it towards a model 27. We about wore the grips out just handing it back and forth.

Yes she’s a keeper. I’m waiting on the gun show to come around so I can find some nice wooden grips as I hate the grip that’s on it. In the mean time does anybody make a short rubber “ boot grip “ for the K frame ?

Can anyone post a pic of a mod. 19 2.5 round or square but with target grips? I’m trying to decide on grips. Thanks.

If nobody comes through in the next hour or two I'll wander out to my work bench and slap it together. Gotta check my smoker anyways.

It's kind of an odd appearance. Looks off balance to me. Combats or banana grips are a little more in line with a snub. IMHO
